Default Performance shops in Portland/Beaverton?

Where do you guys take your cars to be worked on? I'm considering a turbo kit for my Z but would want someone that has worked on Z's before...

i think that might be the fully built project that they are working on with the TT and forged block. assuming its that one they just finished fabracating full turboback dual 3" exhaust. I'd like to see what they get out of it. I hope to get up there soon but i can't say i miss the weather up there (cali right now 80+ and we are loving it)

That must have been it - because it was definately missing the exhaust.

How are their prices, and do they stock anything?

well the way that that shop works is two fold. TorqueFreaks is the install/tuning/project side of their other half HorsepowerFreaks, that is like a storefront for parts and sales. Now from what i've come to figure out is that if you want parts and are planning to get them installed there i would just talk to Torquefreaks since they would be the better source for information and can give you a clear timeline for what it will cost (bottomline) Now I think they might be on the pricey side (comparable) to the other shops in the area,(still better that so cal) but they offer a lot more that a backyard garage style install facility, talk to Jason and tell him Dustin sent you, he should be able to get you what you need. I've not been up there in a while so i can't tell you what they have stocked, sorry

i peeked into horsepower freaks and it didn't seem like they had much stock of anything

i was told they were good with catalog orders though.

their "showroom" is nothing exciting.

Dustin-
I think my redline roadster is the only other fully built Z Torque Freaks has done, unless spdkils committed.
AgentHubcap-
Spdkils said TF was going to build an exhaust for his redline coupe. He installed his own APS kit. Overzealous1 built his own motor AND installed his own Greddy kit. We have some good wrenches in the neighborhood.
Jeremy, who did the actual work on my car, left TF months ago. I had lunch with him today.

Jeremy was the one who worked on my car too, i hope all is going good for him. yeah i'm not too up to date with all the other projects there but it seems like they might be scaling down the "full builds" from what they used to do. I would assume that the $$ isn't in that but more so the jobs that you can guage how long and how much time it will ACCUALLY take. I'm glad to see that more people up there are taking on such a prissy engine and doing some major work on there own. Oh and John Reed the one that tuned my car is over ar RREV Motorsports (sp?) now and he was a pretty good tuner.

Hows the car running Bruce? anything new with you?

torque freaks and hp freaks are separate entities. hp freaks is basically a drop shipping online parts place. they stock almost nothing. bummer when i found that out cause i was hoping for a good place to get hard to get parts in town. but ya still gotta wait for shipping.
i'm on dealer cash prices nearly everywhere in town though, and have found some good places that stock a ton of stuff.

So lets talk - what are the other shops guys? Where do i go if I want something *now*? Who's got the best prices - outside of getting Scott drunk and stealing his cell phone?

Yea, the last time I visited TF, Jason was telling me they want to change their business model to a more "canned" approach. They'll offer Stage 1,2,3 for a specific model car for a fixed-price and will already have the parts list figured out. Kind of a change from working on all makes and installing a lot of customer-supplied parts. My low-compression motor with forged components has been running for about 10,000 miles now.

allonblack-
I try to buy from vendors on my350z.com. I just ordered a different shift ****, replacement oil pressure sender, and Hawk pad from Performance and I got them in two days. They matched price to the best deal I could find on the web. Saaweeet!

I am moving to the PDX area from the Carolinas soon.
I have an uninstalled PE TT kit. I wanted Sharif from Forged Internals to do my install and tuning...but he is moving to Atlanta & I am moving to PDX...

I want to do the whole deal.
>Forged Internals (rods, pistons, & studs)
>TT install
>UTEC piggyback
>boost contoller install
>fuel return system
>turbo timer, gauges....

I trust Sharif...he is the boosted 350z guru!

I have checked out TourqueFreak's website...
...it looks like they have some fairly good all-around experience, but they don't specialize in Z cars...
I doubt that they have dealt with a PE kit or installed and tuned a UTEC.
I don't see any information about building an engine...

I am quite nervous about boosting my baby up there...are there any "Z" shops in the PNW?
Should I have my care done down here?

Thanks for your help!

There used to be a guy in town that *specialized" in Z's, Brett. I forget the name of his shop, it was over near mall 205 as I recall.

I don't know anymore if he's there, or if anyone else in town can claim specialization outside of Scott (overZealous1).
