Question Tint shop recommendations in PDX/Vancouver

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum, and looking for a good place to tint the windows on my 06 Track edition. I live in Vancouver, but any place in Portland or Vancouver is fine.

First priority is quality, second is price

Thanks,
-Jay

Hands down go to Alexia's in Beaverton. I'm calling them tomorrow to set up an apointment for my 2006 Touring I just got. They did a great job on my 2003 Touring when I first got it, and they just did my dad's 2006 Impala (work car) and it turned out perfect. Somone in my family got a new 2006 IS250 and they'll be doing that car next week. If it's not how you like it... they'll redo it with no hastle. I highly recommend it.

Interesting -- I had heard good things and saw some work, and took my old Lexus down to Alexia's for tinting (this was in 02 I think).

First go had several air bubbles that formed the next day, they were nice and didn't have a problem redoing it.

After a couple months, I had more bubbles on the other windows (still pretty small, but noticeable and I had moved away so couldn't get it reset) and was generally dissatisfied with the tint job.

Thanks for the hat tip to them, I'll keep them in mind... maybe I just had bad luck with a new tech or something. Maybe I'll hold off and see how they do yours

Huh... weird. They've done quite a few cars for people I know, and all have been good. Hopefully that was just a fluke. I'll let you know if it's anything less than perfect. Haha.

Yes, please do -- I was really surprised after seeing a great tint job first hand and then seeing what happened to my car.

I figure at my first meet I can just ask around and stare at people's windows

I had the same experience with Alexia as you with my G sedan back in '02. Had to take it back 3 times to get it decent.

After that, I never went back to them but people have been saying that they are doing a good job.

I had my G coupe done by Tommy's Tint in '04 and I had to get the driver's side window done over because of a small scratch.

I just had my '06 IS done by Tommy and I was pretty disappointed. Lot's of crap in the tint. I'm going back this Saturday to have him re-do it.

I think a lot of the quality depends on where AND on who actually does the job.

I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out. I'll be dropping it off in the morning at Alexia's and picking it up in the afternoon. It always takes a few days for imperfections to show up as the film dries. Hopefully I'll have another good experience... knock on wood.

Good luck

I'm eager to hear how it turns out -- the car dealer said that he recommended a place in Vancouver called Solar Eclipse, but ... I don't trust car dealers.

Just an update....

I got my windows tinted, then went out of town for a business trip. I just got back, and it looks great! Dried perfectly with no flaws.

That's good to hear! Do you know who your tech was who did the install? I'm thinking I just need to ask for that guy.

Thanks for the update.

I don't know the name of the tech that did it, but it looks pretty good. The IS250 also just got back with great results. They're pretty easy to work with. Feel free to PM or email me. The only negative thing I've ever noticed is each time they've worked on a car of mine it always needs washed afterwords because of water drips. A small price to pay for a great tint job, but just a little FYI. )
