Slight change of plans; I am taking the day off of work tommorrow. I'll be down at Banker's all day tommorrow. I'll be working on the Z for most of the day and still plan on being there up to the time that they close. I was originally planning to go in to the office tommorrow and leave by 2:30 to get to Banker's by 3PM. They close at 6PM. I should have all the tools we'll need, but feel free to bring extra tools if you have them. Bring mechanics gloves if you got 'em

Also, I need one stock lug nut if anyone has one around that they don't need any longer.

Thanks guys for your help!

Guys, I've hit a snag. Turns out that Banker's Auto does not allow any work to be done in their lot. In order to work on the car I would have to have it towed someplace else. I contacted them this morning and they told me that I wouldn't be able to go through w/ removing the parts.

Thanks to all of you guys that volunteered to help. I appreciate the effort, but I guess I'll be looking to get some help later on if I can find an opportunity to get to the car to a place I can work on it. The option does exist of having the car towed to my place before it goes to Allstate's impound lot or maybe to do the work at there impound lot (Arlington or Graham)

Also, another surprise from the insurance company; they are still trying to figure out whether it is repairable or not. Essentially.... I didn't f*** up the car enough ...or... I f***ed up the car a little too much.

Lesson learned.... if you ever get into an accident and have after market parts you don't want to loose, have the car towed to our place so you can take the parts off at your leisure.

On a positive note: I've switched my breakfast cereal to Lucky Charms in hopes my luck will change. I've been eating 'em for 2 days now and have yet to see some results.

that sucks...dealing w/ insurance companies and accidents are a PITA. Good luck and let us know when you need the man power to remove all your stuff.

Gah -- been out of town. I'll be up near the 747 plant today working with Snohomish PUD, but if you want help this evening, I can come by. Give me a yell on my cell...

p.s. I think I have 2 sets of stock lugs sitting around somewhere...

Well, I'm hoping this will be the final entry on this thread for me. My Z was towed away on Friday morning. Strangely enough, when the guy came to tow it, he jumped in the car and tried to fire it up. Even thought there was no semblance of a working radiator; it started up and sounded as smooth as it did any other day. He gave it a couple of seconds, then put it in reverse and backed it out of the driveway and drove it down to the base of the flatbed. Who would've figured that it was still running and even somewhat driveable?

Some final pics of my Z:

Signed the title over to the insurance company and picked up the check on Firday around noon. I deposited the check later that afternoon.... everything is done that needs to be settled. Again, thanks to you the guys that helped me out, I can't thank some of you enough for the time and resources you volunteered.

I've been considering my options, an '07 Z is looking like the best possibility, but that's a topic for another thread. Now the only thing to do is to find some personal closure to this whole experience.

Damn...I know how it feels to see your totaled baby for the last time. Were you able to get everything off that you wanted? I see that you left the tow hitch...

I know it must be sad to see something you put a lot of time and money into being loaded on a flatbed and hauled away.

Hopefully, you'll come out the whole thing better off, with a newer car and no serious injuries.

I left the tow hitch, welded bumper brackets, Nismo R-Tune pads and the Nismo studs on. I would've needed someone to swap out their rear bumper in order to put one in it's place. But I got all the important parts off. I'll probably be posting a few of them on line since they may not work for the '07 that I'm looking to get. Still have a lot of brand new parts that I never got around to mounting.

SO I did learn a couple of things that might be useful to share w/ the rest of the guys here on the forum regarding accidents

- Take lots of pictures of the accident, not just of your car, but of the other party's car, the position of the vehicles around them and the relationship of the cars to the road.
- When getting towed, have them tow the car to your residence so you can return it to stock at your leisure.
- Airbags don't hurt too bad, even if you have glasses on at the time. The cabin fills up w/ lots of stinky smoke. Seems like a chemical burn would be my biggest concern.
- If the car is still running, don't forget to turn it off and put the hand brake on so it is right where it was when the impact occured (provided that it's still capable of rolling). If you're not causing a blockage of traffic, it's best to leave it where it is to help the police sort things out.
- In my situation the neck and upper back took the worst hit, but healed up in a few days.
- If your car does go to an impound yard and will be repaired by the insurance, the responsibility will fall on you to find a shop to do the repair work.
- Allstate has this wacky policy where if you get into an accident w/ another Allstate insured motorist, your deductable is waived.
- You know that stereo type of asians being bad drivers, particularly asian women? Well, I think I'm a firm believer in that now (just kidding, my mom and wife are asian women ).
- A lot of people experience problems as a result of an accident a few days afterwards, in some cases weeks. Other than some mild soreness in my back, I was lucky enough to get off w/o anything else to report.
- Pursuing an insurance company for compensation for issues surrounding an accident if you don't have any injuries to show for it is a hard thing to do, it's not worth the time and the effort in my situation.
- Beware of ambulance chasing lawyers.
- Your PCP will tend to down play any medical conditions you have surrounding a vehicular accident. Seems like health care providers don't like to deal w/ it at all.
- The Z is one tough car. I've complained about it being too heavy, but it's that chassis that's built like a tank that'll let you walk away from an accident instead of being pulled out by an emergency personnel.

Prior to the accident, my Z was just a car to me. A thing that I was only concerned about it's monetary value and nothing more. It didn't occur to me until the moment where it was getting taken away on a flatbed that there was so much more it ment to me personally. I guess it was just a case of taking it for granted. Never thought that it could be taken away from me the way it did, it seemed almost immortal during the time I had it. I think I'm finding closure to this whole thing. Had I lost it at a track day or while up in the mountains it would have had a more dignified death, and getting over it would have been easier. Slowly but surely I'm finding closure to it and I'll be ready to move on.
