The Northwest VQ Challenge
My 1st run was a bit uneasy, I was getting the end to come out in a few places especially after the big 180 left hander after the straight.
My 2nd run felt good, I was in better control but I could not get any power down at that point.
My 3rd run felt good but I was noticing that I was spinning my tires almost all the way down the straight away. As a result I was breaking way too early before the big left hander thinking I might end up over shooting if my tires suddenly grabbed. It ended up being a re-run thanks to timing issues.
My 4th run I decided to try and go beyond the tires limits to see if I could find how far out I could go. Over shot the first corner and it was a mess from that point on. I didn't pick up anything from that run. Other than the course was more slippery than I recalled it from the other 2 runs.
My 5th run felt kind good up until the last cone on the back slalom where I screwed up the braking point and ended up having to turn a lot more than I should have.
So I ended up standing on my 2nd run as my best time.

I think had it been the original course, un-modified for wet weather and dry conditions; Triple8Sol and DrVolkl would have beaten me. That’s about the only good thing I can say about the rain.

Okay... since this was a Challenge, there wouldn't necessarily be a winner. But I think as far as bragging rights go; you and PDX_Racer can work that out. I think in a couple of months, once we have some dry weather again. I'd like to have a go at it again.

One of the reasons it's good to enter into the novice class is that you have a good chance of getting a real trophy - once you enter into normal classes, competition is much harder!

That course sucked BTW...they should make it more open when it's rainy...too damn tight when it's that slippery.

Okay Triple8Sol and DrVolkl, I have your trophies (pictured here next to my Z
). They have a battery and LED in it and flash, heh... cute.

How do you want me to get 'em to you?
