Snow Sucks

The problem with the snow over here is that the ground doesn't get cold enough before the snow falls, so the first inch or so of snow melts, and finally re-freezes when there's enough snow on top to get it below freezing.
Snow on top of ice = bad news bears. Slush on top of ice = chains mandatory.

This is the worst weather I've seen. Near Hood Canal, we got 12" of snow Saturday noon until Sunday noon followed by 50 degree temps and almost 11" of rain Sunday noon until Monday noon. The rain with a total snow melt have given records for the fifty years they have been keeping track!
Winds have gusted over 50 mph and the roads out were both cut-off for 7 hours because of slides and water over a bridge that has never been covered before. High tide at noon was about 18 inches higher than it should have been because of the low barometric pressure. My 23' sailboat was pushed into my front yard about 25' from the house.
I've been sandbagging and trying to control water all day, from the creek that jumped its bed above us to the tide and waves on the other side. I'm dead tired and and my ears are bored with the sound of sloshing in my boots all day. God, I pray tomorrow will be easier. A back hoe would be nice. I fear one neighbor will lose their home's foundation if we get one more round of this. No we don't have hurricanes. So what?
You guys on the other side of the Sound in Seattle have it easy.
