NOV AM 1st place --> 350Z (Chip, are you on the forums? it was great meeting another Z out there)

needless to say the Z made a good showing!

I"ll be at the ProSolo...it's a 2 day event and is part of the National tour - so this is a fairly large event. IMO this would not be a good event to go to if it's your first time autoXing. (This is a National level event, so some ppl will be traveling from around the US to Packwood. Tensions will be a little higher...)

*I"ll be super busy b/c I'm co-driving w/ someone...and I don't believe tour events allow passengers.

I went to my first Prosolo a month ago - I was a bit overwhelmed at first...it's a completely different pace from a normal autoX; you do 4 runs back-to-back, so if you get lost, there's no time to figure it out....most novices get lost a few times - it's usually best to get someone to ride w/ you.

There's a normal autoX at the end of the month - that may be a good place to start.

forgot to mention that it also cost $85...but if you get first, you win something like $500. Yet another reason why ppl take this one more seriously.

*While it might not be ideal as your first event, you can still come and drive - I just wanted you to have the right expectations.

Looking over the schedule of events for Western WA and it looks like the next 2 good opportunities to try out autoX for the first time is on August 31st and/or Sept 1st in Bremerton.

There are a few other events; Enduro in Shelton, National Tour in Packwood, ProSolo in Packwood, but they are probably not the best events to be introduced into the sport.

However, the Evolution Driving school (http://www.nwr-scca.org/solo/evolution.htm). There are 3 phases to it. The Phase 1 which is really intended for those that have some autoX experience is probably a good way of getting some experience in the sport w/ professional instructions. It's $260 for the Phase 1 but if you're serious about getting good at the sport it's definately something worthwhile.

I'm going to be at the Tour and Pro.

The Evo driving school is outstanding. For Phase 1, you really don't need all that much experience.

Enduro also isn't a good event for novices because of the format.

National Tour would be OK, but a bit more intense than your normal event -- also it's two days, so you can't just show up for one day.

damn, don't think I'm ready to pay almost $100 to hurt my car. I'll wait for another normal autocross so I can screw up and not worry about it.
