Talking Hate to do this, but you guys love flaming so...

Trying to figure out a few things on my project (i don't even call it a car to you guys much less a Z).
pics are here

1. Fenders, anyone know if the fenders actually are integral in the body? Do they give stability or rigidity? Thinking of just cutting the original ones off up to the cab due to the widebody fenders.

2. Anyone know of any non-custom-built rims that are:
18"x9.5" front 18"x12" rear
at least 70mm offset with enough dish to widen the stance to stock+2"
preferably local
and actually look good

3. Anyone know of a GOOD body/paint shop around Seattle area? I can only find one shop that will even touch a body kit and they don't WANT to mess with mine. I'm looking for a full paint job, including jambs, engine bay, exterior and show quality (im guessing it'll cost around $10k but cheaper is better)

4. I need a new hood (the one i have was from a conniving canadian shop who makes crap and it destroyed my car) and I'm torn. I'm trying to clean up the look a little but keep it pretty aggressive. BMagic makes a really neat cowl sort of hood i've been looking at

5. I need a new roof skin (old one destroyed by hood) and asuka has this new double hump roof i've been thinking of... looks pretty good on the widebodies i've seen

6. Anyone know anything about supports/reinforcement for a CF hatch for a wing/spoiler. I know it needs it but does anyone know who/where/how and such? I wrote MG(mastergrade) about the one they have on their 350z with the widebody kit (it's the kit mine is based on) but nobody ever wrote back.

7. any feedback on the current project?!... i know you guys LOVE to tear people up and I'm leaving myself wide open for it... keeping it in a local forum cause you guys are the only opinions i care about (who cares if a texan doesn't like my car you know?)

The overall idea i'm going for is very aggressive but I want to smooth a lot of the sharp angles down and try to make all those mean looking vents serve a function instead of just add holes to catch bugs in. I plan on doing a pretty mean build on a VQ35HR and do the extreme APS TT kit. Run about 15lbs for normal driving but with the darton MID sleeves and the build I want to be able to run about 40lbs of boost... hence 12inch rims and "tubbing the rear" as it were and the concerns with the body in doing so. I'm pretty sure it can be compensated for with the roll cage but that won't likely be for a while.

i did... a lot... mostly heard horror stories... but that does uncover one fail on my part, i said seattle area... im looking for a shop on the kitsap peninsula (hopefully bremerton/silverdale/paulsbo/port orchard area... i'd rather not drive for an hour plus leave my car there for a couple weeks and not be within 70 miles driving distance of my car when they want me to come in and show them what i want, which in this case SHOULD be often

thanks for making the first reply one of the aforementioned NW flames though

It means that I'm coming in this thread not to help answer any questions or join in on the conversation regarding the original post but to watch the flamefest. Hence, the eating of popcorn.

Well that was a lot of questions. The body/paint shop that I go to is CarNutz at Park Place in Bellevue, they can be a bit pricey, however they do quality work.

As for the rest...

We don't love to flame, we just do it as a public service. Think of it like social darwinism.

That being said, you're trying to one-stop-shop with this thread in the regional section. This isn't Wall-mart. You've got a lot of specific questions that need to be asked in the sub-forums relating to that topic. The paint/body shop thing people can help out on, and we've got some pretty knowledgeable wheels-******, but you want a lot of information in an area where not a lot of people have the experience with that stuff.

The wheel info should be asked in the wheels/tires subforum. And the fender/spoiler/body kit questions need to be asked in the proper subforum as well.

If you've seen someone on the forum with a similar setup to what you're going to have, pm them or post up in their thread asking specific questions.

That's how you're going to get the best specific information you need.

Did I see lambo doors on your car, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

yeah I know its farther than you like but your choices get limited when it comes to fiberglass so I've found. They can successfully polish a turd.. I know from experience They are very good and one of the few I have found that will do custom fab and work with fiberglass all day long. They even painted sdbarkers headlight housings to match his car.

No flames but maybe if you noticed we just joke around with each other here just like EVERY other section not to mention forum so the title you chose will be the source of your fire you will find in here.

good luck with your project, going for some car show trophies?

Yes i know you all joke... I'm just trying to encourage it

Thanks for the shop recommendation seeing as that's the first shop i've heard of that'll do FG work it may prove invaluable
I might go trophy hunting with it when it's done, but mostly everything I'm doing is applying a lot of stuff in real life that I have learned from books and such, if in it's final form I can get some trophies i'll be giddy

as far as why all the specific questions that have other threads devoted to them... i tried to emphasize that i'm looking primarily for local shops, everything i've seen so far in the specialize threads are everywhere else in the country... i fairly scoured the NW regional forum for tales of good shops AND WHY... mostly i read a lot of horror stories and occasionally a dime drop reference to a shop that treated one of you well but nothing with specifics

the shop reference wasuber gave had one key thing to it that i hadn't seen anywhere else, they do fab work with FG!!! (is giddy)

still haven't seen anything or heard of anything in the area that is good with or that specializes with race application wheels... i'm a pretty big fan of supporting local businesses is why i'm going through all this trouble... also... i haven't seen anything other than websites that do custom wheels... obviously not anything local

yup... and they are an unholy pain in the dick... and are NOT meant to be installed on a mastergrade widebody car (hence the little cutouts on the fenders), but that's kinda why i did it i guess... rarity... though they've been giving me so many problems i may cut them off and put on normal door hinges again...
