Tranny shenanigans (no, the other one... the OTHER other one...)
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good shop on the East side to take a look at my transmission.
Something changed the other day and now the shifter feels sloppy in neutral and I can't shift into 5th anymore, except from 6th. When I try on the upshift, it just goes back into 3rd.. not exactly welcome behavior when you're moving hard through 4th. The car's an '03 and past the TSB warranty... I should pull the records over at the dealership that the previous owner religiously serviced it at to see if the tranny TSB's were ever even done.
Either way though, really don't wanna shell out $1K+...
But on the plus side, I got the AAM plenum spacer for xmas. Way fun!!

Well, the transmission finally went kablooie. I was accelerating up Bothell Way when suddenly... I had no gears to shift into. No feedback whatsoever from the transmission, so I'm thinking the shifter linkage finally went. I had it towed over to Kirkland Transmission by the Infinity dealership and gave the story to Tony, who said it sounded like my hunch was probably in the ballpark. Keeping my fingers crossed for a cheap (relatively) fix!

Just got some really great news from the shop! Apparently there's a bolt connecting the bottom of the shifter to the top of the transmission, and mine had worn loose to the point of finally stripping the threads away and today the two pieces just came apart. New rod + bolt + 1hr labor = $260. WAY F'ING BETTER than replacing a few gears, all the bearings, etc.
