Default 18 months and counting...

18 Months and counting till I make my move and buy a 2009 GT-R...

I've had fun driving the Z, but I think it is time to start saving for a GT-R, I am going to be putting on E7 (Chief/Master Sergeant/Chief Master Sergeant/Gunnery Sergeant), and getting paid for it in about 18 months. So with that being said, I figured I would treat myself to the biggest pay raise of my Naval career... It also gives me incentive to work my *** off until I get it, so it is a win-win for me!

Any thoughts?

Look at the upkeep costs. Major dollars. I read an article in one of the car mags (I think it was Automobile, I was at a tire store) and they paid over 7K to get the rotors, pads and fluid replaced.

Maybe you're thinking of the Edmunds Inside Line long term test? http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...09-nissan-gtr/

I hear ya man. I was in the same boat but decided to just get a 2009 370Z instead. Its manual too. $70-80K is just too much $! I wonder what the used prices will be on a 2009 in a few years? The best I have seen for a used 2009 GTR was 66K.

in 18 months good models w reasonable miles will be had for $45-55k
... demand will still be there and prices will buoy. there is a HUGE market
for these cars at that pricepoint.

remember how long supra's stayed at $40k+++?

and those cars were far cheaper to drive in terms of upkeep/mile

Well, I deploy a lot, so its not like I'll be putting much milage on the car itself... also, I was looking into getting a ferrari (used of course)... but there are so many things to consider when buying a ferrari... e.g. I have NO clue how to fix those.

Ferrari = Expensive tune up. But great choice.

Why not get a used Porsche turbo for that price.

I serviced and maintained an F430 for a while.

My costs after 3 years (w/ sub 5k miles per) were under $10k
including tire replacement.
