I might be down for this as my brother wants to go to the track together before I move. How was the last event for first timers? My brother has never been on the track before. I'll need to rent or borrow a car though as just applied for PNO for the Z

I might consider this if my shock is repaired in time. What is the format? The whole course will be open to non-drifters correct? Do they need instructors? I can probably round up 5 people or so.

Guys, beware with NCDA....I went to this event last year with them and it was just plain scary. I would not recommend it for beginners. Their focus is on the drifting and they even have drift sessions on the entire track. I did get lots of track time, but I wasn't really that comfortable with the crowd. You never know though, they may have cleaned up a little. I won't be there as I'm getting married that day and then moving to Alabama the week after.
Be safe guys,
Steve

The last one I went to did not allow a passenger, only was half track, and had cones in the straight away. It was also only Five 20 minute sessions instead of Six thirty minute sessions. Please someone explain me the rules? Im in if I can bring a passenger.

They had passengers at the one I went to. During some drifting sessions, one passenger was hanging out the window giving everyone in the crowd the bird as the driver spun around in continous circles. I thought it was kinda funny. Anyway, on the track, they did allow passengers.
If you're a beginner, I would highly recommend that your only passenger be an isntructor. Talk with daveh...great guy and an instructor for several HPDE groups including NASA.

Well, I emailed the organizer to get some info on the event and haven't heard from him for almost a week. I'm probably pass on this event as I have signed up for the LS event w/ NASA on Jan 22.
Do read the post on the last event that ryans linked above. It confirms some of scubasteve's observations. I had a good time, but there were indeed more scary moments with these folks than any other I've driven with.

Last year was great, if you don't feel comfy with the drift section, consider using half the road racing course and build up your skill. If you want to learn to drift on a forgiving track, thunderhill is a great place. Don't like the mud, have spin on the paddock course.
Jan. 2005 was so much fun when they let each one class of drifters do continuous laps on the track. If you didn't feel comfortable being close, you can just stay back a bit and flow. Everyone was doing something all the time.
NCDA has gotten better from their first event in Jan 2004. It sucked cause it was not planned out as well. Now the events got interesting and they learned from their mistakes. I really liked how they change formats to make it challenging or time effective (At the Tracy Night Drifts).
I go to most of the NCDA events and even the ones in Tracy, which is scary cause of the walls. I do not work for them, but over time I learned a lot from them and enjoy the inexpensive events. They are really cool people. Don, Todd, Luke, Henry and the rest of the NCDA crew.
There are only 12 people who signed up. 6 of us from American Canyon and Napa are heading up on the 8th and paying at the gate. I hope to see you there, cause I'm gonna take advantage of less people being there. Rain or shine, I'm gonna get stuck in the mud!
P.S.
Scubasteve, were you the other Silverstone 350z there on Jan 2005? I was the other 350z with a funky kit with an open diff.
