Default 3.9 FD Install in the Bay Area

Anyone suggest a shop that is experienced in doing this with Zs? I just got my 3.9 Central 20 in the mail... I'm guessing it's going to cost around 4-500 for the install.

Do you know if either of those places attempt to do this themselves? I figured that it's something that should only be trusted with a diff shop that has the proper equipment/experience

And where is scott's performance at? I heard zcargarage is in sj or around there

thanks

Z cargarage is a great shop. They installed my Vortech Supercharger with no problems and they specialize in nothing but Z's. They should be able to install the 3.9 FD with no problems. Rob there has great knowledge on Z's. You can give him a call at (408) 452-0350 for a quote. Here is there address 140 Archer Street, San Jose, CA 95112.

+1 for Z Car Garage.. I asked Rob about 3.9 FD when I was getting stuff done and he said he can install it. I think this will be my next mod.

Gotboost, where did you order yours from?

Ok maybe I'll give them a call. I got mine from Vivid racing.. weird thing is that they charged me 40 bucks to ship it when I can calculate it on the website to be about 15 bucks.. gotta give them a call on that. Pretty generic looking.. just a ring n pinion in a plain non-labeled box and nothing else (instructions, stickers, whatever)

How much does the 3.9FD cost, if you don't mind me asking? Also, how much would you estimate labor to be? (trying to see how much this mod would cost, installed... I am considering getting it)

I just bought the Central 20 FD by itself with no install parts = 500 + shipping. I believe this is the retail price. Don't know how much install will run yet; I think it depends on where I bring it to. Haven't gotten around to calling around for install prices yet.

I was ZCG's first lsd install. They were going to farm it out to a diff shop but ended up doing it in-house. I've been beating on it for over two years now with no issues. There's not much those guys can't do on our cars.

gotboost, they sent my diff out to a shop that specializes in diffs and they they put it back on. That's what I understod.

They asked to have the car two days, but in the end the car was ready in about 26 hours. I dropped it off at 7am and it was ready at 9am the following day but I couldn't pick it up until noon.

From just this one experience I scheduled to do some more work on the Z next week.

I had my 3.9 done at ZCG. Rob had the diff sent out to be done. Perhaps they do it inhouse now. He sent the diff to a guy that has done diff's for him, for years. I don't remember the exact cost, but I know it was over $600.
