Any good dealers you would recommend in norcal? I hear a lot of positive things about west covina but thats frikin far. Need to get tranny replaced for grinding gears and the dealership around me is being difficult.

I just got my transmisison replaced at Capitol Nissan. Apparantly, there is a new service manager, Rick, who is a pretty cool guy. I told him that my transmission was having issues, and that I had brought the car in before only to find that they gave me some BS, saying it was the transmission fluid.

Dropped it off on Thursday, and picked it up Saturday morning with a new transmission and clutch disk.

 

That's twice in 6 months that they have new staff. It's still a PITA to get an appointment there, and their online appt booking simply doesn't work. You just show up in the morning and drop your car off. Tell them NOT to detail it, as they damaged my Titan some time ago and they do a horrible job anyway.

 

Really? I just call a couple days in advance and don't really have a problem booking an appointment.

But yes, they can't wash cars for $hit.

 

i dunno, i remember calling for appts and it was one of the hardest ordeals ever.

 

My 07 350Z's 15K service is due so I am trying to figure out which dealership will be the best.

I was in Oakland till last year and went to Bay bridge Nissan for servicing and slave cylinder recall... and I will recommend them to all.........

I haven’t stayed in Sacramento much so don’t know which dealer is not a stealer ..... I had a really bad experience with Folsom lake Nissan dealership...

Please post your experiences about the dealerships that you guys have taken your lovely Z's for servicing ... in and around Sacramento/Berkley/oakland/SF area.........

Two more questions:
1) Is the premium service worth its cost?
2) I want to lower the clutch engagement point for my Z, ... is it a good idea..........?

I've had my transmission replaced twice hassle free at the Superior Nissan of Fremont. First, grinding gears... had them install new transmission and aftermarket clutch/flywheel. All free of charge, minus clutch/flywheel I bought elsewhere. Second, nissan transmissions are garbage from my short-lived experience with them, and that same transmission started grinding 6th no later than 10,000 miles into it's life. I went back, and they replaced it again no questions asked.

I'm on my third transmission now... hopefully I won't need another...

I dealt with Dave both times, but the lady that works there is cool too.

PS... walking into a dealership in person to schedule an appointment is always better than calling.

Just personal preference IMO... but I would think the higher the clutch engagement point, the less you have to depress the clutch to shift, the faster you shift?
