yeah my boss is telling me to only get shoei or arai, but HJC is a bit cheaper, yet still has extremely high reviews as well as high safety ratings. I'll just have to pop in to cycle gear or pcp and see what they got goin on haha

I need some opinions.
Recently came across some unexpected $$$ and of course its going into my z.
The 2 major upgrades I need to do at the moment is to either purchase new wheels first or some coilovers first.

Wheels because well...my current wheels are Konig's
They were already on the car when I bought it used.
Offsets are 19x9.5 +25 all the way around. Spacers are on the rear at the moment making the rears +3. As for the appearance, I painted them black a couple months ago and they look pretty good.
Doesn't change the fact that they are Konig's though.

Or I could pick up some Coilovers due to my annoying rake, and suspected front struts being worn out.
I originally considered just replacing the struts and transferring the lowering springs currently installed but I figured I would just do it the right way with coils instead. If so then I could balance the car's drop, have a much smoother ride, and lower it some more to my liking.

But then again, I could get some better wheels and do the springmount mod for now to solve the rake and later on down the road get the coilovers.

Budget atm is 1k.

Opinions please? Kinda stuck

budget being 1k, you'd probably be able to get some megan or BC coilovers.I have BC's on mine and love em. but you'll be on coils and still on konigs, in terms of wheels, you're gonna need to buy tires with them, not sure of many combos of wheel+tires for 1k if any unless you went with some cheap wheels in which case your konigs im sure would be fine

I would go with coilovers.

Your wheels WORK for the time being, your front suspension on the other hand (as you claim) does NOT.

My vote goes for fix your current problems, besides nothing is worse than having bad ride height or a crappy handling car...lol

agree with both of them, coils would probably be your best choice, and Konig's arent terrible wheels... there are FAR worse wheels haha

Yeah the coilovers I have been looking at are BC's. I know a couple people personally that own and like them and they seem like a better option over the Megans, about the same price aswell.

As for tires if I were to purchase new wheels, I recently replaced my fronts with 225/35/19's. My rear tires atm are 275/35/19 with decent tread left. So I could swap them for now, especially if the new rear wheel widths are wider such as 10.5 which would be very likely.

Ive recently been hearing a clunking noise from my rear passenger side... not sure if its part of the suspension or something loose on the body. Lookedtwice and can't figure it out... starting to irritate me. I only hear it when I hit bumps though...

i've got the same thing going on. it's odd. i think it's either my bearing or the damper is bottoming out at the top (topping out? haha). haven't had time to look into it besides checking bolts.

i should be signing the lease for my new apartment at homecoming this week. i'm excited to FINALLY have a garage/place to work on my car
