You won't pass the visual without mufflers. I passed with headers, aftermarket exhaust and a Vortec SC.

As long as you have cats & muffler(s) you should pass. The visual is all up to how much the tech knows about the 350Z in regard to headers. Most techs turn the other way as long as you pass the sniffer.

I have the vortech S/C, JWT Cams, NISMO Headers, NISMO Catback and passed with ease. Yes you will need mufflers on. I checked with a friend that's a mechanic with Nissan and does smog tests. They will see it not to mention the noise that will attract their attention to it.

I have a smog question for you guys. A friend knows someone who will pass him on the visual, but his Z wont pass the sniffer and the smog guy told him to bring one that will. Anyway, this guy wants to use mine since I passed w/ my SC. Is there any risk to me for letting him use my Z?

I have a 2003 and it needs to be smogged every two years now. It passed with a Vortec S/C and headers last March. Vortec is C.A.R.B. approved.

If you buy a new car (2009 or 2010) you go five years from the time you buy it until a smog check. 2003 cars of any make have to be smogged every other year.
