Guys with bodykits!!
Hey, I was rear ended last week (damage is really minimal just a scratch and imprint from the license plate of car that hit me). Just got back after meeting with the the other party's insurance adjuster with a check for $620. That cost is to fix the bumper and not replace. He says that if my shop decides to replace the entire bumper that they will directly pay the shop the difference.
I want to know which option I should take.
1) just get it fixed by insurance and get a new stock bumper or will the insurance pay for replacement by a equally priced, yet aftermarket bumper?
2) use the cash to get an aftermarket bodykit?
I know that complete bodykits go for $1000-$1300 of the styles i like. but i'm more concerned with the cost of labor and painting. For those of you with body kits i'd appreciate it if you could post or pm me the amount you paid for your shop to mount and paint your pieces. Also, if possible the break down in price (front, sides, and rear). Any and all advice is appreciated. thanks.
also, recommendation of bodyshops that do good work.

i think payed about 800 to have a front bumper painted a rear wing painted and a CF hood refinished for my old car. I think just to have a rear bumper painted your looking at like 200-250 for a stock one that wont take much prep. for a body kit, especially a replica that doesnt fit well id think in the 1500 range, less for a well fitting one like shines.
I'd say depending on whether or not you are going to keep your car til its death or not. If you are planning to only keep it for a while, you might want to just get the stock bumper painted. To me, it seems that it is harder to sell a car with an aftermarket bodykit on them. IMO, go with the stock bumper route. I only say this because I usually don't keep my cars for more than a year, but then again...i'm really loving this z more than any other car I've had.
On another note, if you know the shop really well, have them fix the old bumper and go with a lip kit. Have the shop write a receipt for a brand new bumper replace/paint. It's a little crooked though

my front bumper and lip kit was crushed by a truck tire on the interstate at night going to vegas. The insurance paid for the stock bumper and lip kit, I used the money to buy a whole new front bumber (blitz). Then a couple of months later had another truck tire shatter that on the interstate heading to Carolina (at night), insurance paid for bumper, I had it replaced by the original OEM bumper and went with trail try force lip kit. Thats my route. Get what you want and just add your add alittle of you cash to it. Thats if you want a kit or not or plan on keepin your car. I wanted one and insurance helped with that opportunity. Shop around, I'm sure you can get a good kit. Also, look on the forums, save some money.

I think your best bet would be to check around on the forums, cause the alot of guys are preparing for the August show, and are getting rid of their old kits and replacing them with new kits. A perfect oppurtunity to take advantage of
. Like 808 350z said Wardz33 is selling his front bumper for only $100, you purchase that and still have 500 left to play with. I have heard of guys purchasing entire kits for 600 so I say, be patient and the oppurtunity will arise

Was 1200 to paint and my full kit didn't have to do too much to prep and fit since it was a shine kit. The cost is gonna vary depending on the quality.
If you need a full rear bumper the chagespeed one looks pretty mean.

If you are going to go aftermarket, there are things other than paint that you should consider. You are going to pay through the roof for shipping a full rear bumbper. Full bumpers and sides usually go for $400+ ea. for a quality paint job. I paid $220 for just my Blitz Wing. If you want the pieces perfectly color matched, they will ask you leave the car. I don't know if you are down for that kind of thing. Otherwise, you may just want to give them the damaged bumper for matching.
If you go with a fiberglass kit, you may want to get it installed by the pros also, but again, that will add to the cost. Look for a flexible kit that has a reputation for great fitment so self install can be done.
Another option may be just to take the cash, get a stock bumper and get that painted, along with a CF lip kit. The dark color of SMB will mate perfectly IMO with bare CF. But that's just me. The advantage of course, is savings in not having to paint the CF.
