Front license plate
hello,
my names kevin. just wondering since i bought a new front bumper, is it legal to have the plate on the dash board? im not interested in busting a hole in the bumper, and a friend just got pulled over for not having one posted and cost him $75. if not what other alternatives do i have?
i just pick up a Z about 5 months ago, and love driving it. beginning to do some slight mods already. i understand and hear that the "Z" family is pretty friendly and active, and ive noticed it through all the threads. hope to meet some new people through this!

having it on the front dash isn't legal either. If you don't wanna drill your front bumper you've got a couple options. First if its a new stock bumper look into the Zee bracket. It clips in where the stock grill insert that covers up the Tow Hook hole is and mounts that way. The other option is to look into the Stillen Bracket, it screws into the actually Tow Hook hole.
On a side note I haven't had a front plate since November and I haven't gotten a ticket yet. Although I Only drive my car once a week at most almost never at night.

Welcome Kevin. Congrats on the purchase!
Like Jamie said, you don't have any options in regards to a front license plate. You can run it ....but at your own risk. Most of the boys with aftermarket bumpers don't have a front license plate and cops usually don't care too much....(depends if their just being a$$3$ or who you get) but if you're caught it will be a $75 fine. Carlos (Powerlab thread)....had an instance where the cop made him mount the license plate no questions asked.
Have fun out there bro, looking forward to meeting you.

First day I took mine off, I had cops stare at me driving by. Not a comfortable feeling.
I was unlucky and got pulled over numerous amount of times in my old car. I guess if you are lucky, you won't get pulled over... My friends have ran plate-less for years with no hassle though.
Up to you, but I opt not to risk it.
You can always run this and drill under your bumper:

not worth the risk. you will get a ticket eventually. I went about a year w/o a plate then got a ticket. Got a new bumper and didn't put the plate on, then got another ticket. You gotta pay to play, so if you can't afford it just mount the plate.
For paint I'd recommend Gx. They cost $$, but imo you won't be satisfied any other way.

I just got ticketed April 22. I just ziptied the plate to the holes that are near the tow hook. It's kind of deep in there, but it's visible and in the front. Send the pictures into the judge with a statement. I'm leaving it on there, cuz I don't want the hassle. Hell if Im gonna drill holes, buy the gear or, worst, pay someone to do it.
