Went to the stealership today...
I went this morning to get tranny and diff oil change but said no considering they wanted a little over $400 for a maybe 2 hour job. I also have noticed that the Z has an oil consumption issue so brought that up to the guys there so they took a look at that and did an engine oil change. Turns out when they did a warranty check my Z is already on it 3rd engine! Oh well maybe it will be on its fourth in another 1000 miles.
why not change the tranny and diff oil yourself? it's just like changing engine oil...
and stay on that oil consumption crap. I'm on engine # 3 right now too... been at it a couple years now...

Yes I do have an 06. I definitely plan on doing the oil changes myself now; i didn't think it would cost that much when i went in. I do not usually mind paying for things when it is more convenient. Its a pain to use the lift at work when you have to route a chit just to use the damn thing.
I'm with you. I've had my Z 3 years now, and I try to do everything myself. Only time it sets foot on stealership property is if I need parts, or I break something... lol.
Make sure to document everything, and if they give you a hard time about the oil consumption problem lemme know. There's a lot of info I can pass your way. Good luck.

I talked to the actual mechanic who was working on the car and he said that since I've had the car for such a short amount of time that as long as i have proof of getting one oil change recently then i wont have a warranty issue. Now if i get this changed again what happens with the engine is it under a separate new warranty or does its warranty end at the 5 year mark? Roberson do you know what the requirements are to be considered a oil problem? Thanks for the help.

He's correct. As long as you continue to maintain the vehicle, and have documentation, there's no warranty issues. Nissan requires, at a minimum, of one oil change every 7500 miles.
Any part that's replaced is given 12mo /12K miles. Unfortunately, that's all you'll get, unless Nissan decides to be nice.
According to the Regional Specialist who was working on my case, excessive consumption is more than 1 quart within the life of the oil... 3750 miles...
