just received from bh on friday:

2x 7.6" 5 section light stand
2x umbrella adapters

and waiting on amazon and ebay for:
2x 285HV's
2x cactus receivers

and some misc goodies. i already have my 430ex with cactus trig/receiver's, and an AB800 for indoor work.

I'm so tempted to pick up a canon 10-22, but i just spent the last of my budgeted photo money on the strobe gear, and i'd pretty much be spending money that isn't currently mine, so trying to avoid it, but it's tempting.

EDIT: and pics of the equipment will be coming soon, along with some test shots.

Good deal. Why didn't you order the 285s from BH and save on shipping?

Just picked up a SB-28 for under $100 from ebay. Since the price of 383s have gone up, I'm thinking about dumping mine and just running SBs.

Sunpak is no longer making 383 supers anymore. B&H no longer has them. It'll be tough even finding them anywhere.

Someone warned the 383's were being discontinued, and I believe the Vivitar 285HV is also not manufactured anymore. I jumped on my 383's because of this, and I wish I got more.

Yup, I'm still on the rock. The strobes and triggers you got will take your photography to a new level.

I think there are bad copies floating around, as mine is sharp. Impressively sharp wide-open. I'm glad I got it. Needed this walk-around as the 28-135IS just wasn't wide enough during events and parties.

SpartanWarrior did some testing, and his first copy was bad... then he tried another...

Interesting thread:

its not a V/R lense & i'm starting to think when i'm taking long shutter shots the 'snap' of the lense causes camera to jerk slightly & make the picture blurry. i just got it & i think i wasted my money.

why did no one warn me?!?!

^ I'd be more worried about optics quality rather than VR bro. VR is nice but it's not going to kill ya my only VR lens is the 70-200mm f2.8 and while I do notice the difference, it doesn't change my shooting style. My hands are still steady down to 1/15 anyways. It's just how well you hold your camera. My 50mm f1.4 and my 18-35mm AF-S doesnt have VR and I use them in low light/moving conditions all the time.

I now have three Nikon speedlights and the SG-31R flash blocker [to prevent the pre-flash from the commander mode messing with the lighting] - and I picked up a Lowepro Rolling Computrekker AW. Reason being I can no longer shoulder bag my gear (weighs way too much when I have to carry full gear to do outdoor fashion shoots) but I still need to look professional going to weddings and events so hence the rolling case

Never thought I'd see the day I spend money on a camera bag worth $300!

I had a Vertex 200 and it was very comfortable fully loaded. I could shoulder it for 4hrs without a problem. Now I just use Pelican cases.
