Default 350Z "strobist" composite

This was my 1st attempt at a single flash, multiple shot composite.

I think it turned out OK. What do you guys think?

Quality picture, the light is hitting all the wrong parts of the Z...

The hood, front fender, and door should have light upon them...

Gotcha.

Luckily, it's my car and I'm the guy shooting it in my driveway. I can try as often as I have time.

Any suggestions on using bare flash vs. light modifiers?

Do you have any images you have taken that you could share, so I can see more of what areas to light and how they were lit?

Thanks!

Here's a second one I edited from 4 images shot after dark in the same spot.

I wanted this one to be a bit darker and I liked the flash burst in the driver window.

For these shots, I used a Canon EOS 40D with a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8. I used a Nikon SB24 for the flash with Yongnuo wireless shutter release and wireless flash trigger/receiver.

1/250
ISO 100
f/8

Flash was bare at full power moved around to different places handheld.

I just edited out the flash bursts to see which I prefer. Still not sure...

try slow shutter speed next time, small aperture, and move the flash around the car to "paint" the light around the car. The effect will looks pretty good.

are you shooting with a grid or umbrella or just bare with dish? from the lighting and harsh highlights im guessing dish.

i would get a large shoot through or silver reflective to shoot with and place your light source further back to diffuse it more.

ie. this was a composite i did with my dd. i used a sb600 i carry in my car with a shoot through umbrella.
