Default avic-d1 not powering on :(

I bought an avic d1 from a member of this forum who had it installed in his Z so he shipped me his wiring harness as part of the deal. I have been working this morning taking apart my dash and when I went to take out my stock cd player I had 3 things plugged in instead of two like the picture on this guide:

http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/dash_removal/

The wiring kit that was sent to me only had places for the two bottom plugs so I assumed thats all I needed but when I plugged everything up I couldn't get the head unit to power on. Do I need a different wiring harness for my car than the one he shipped me or is something else the problem?

he did not ship you the wrong harness. the 3rd harness was brown correct. thats fine. what you need to do is plug in the antenae. nissan tends to not have the best grounds for the stereo so it grounds inself off the antenae. there is a ground wire but its not always dependable. dont ask me why. but plug in the antenae, give it a sec, then try to power on

also with the avic d1, you have to have everything set up including the brain all installed before it will power on. you cant just plug in the headunit. plug in everything

just keep in mind that the antenae is not a strong ground either. its made for low power set ups. i strongly recomend grounding on your inner dash frame. anything metal. if your not runnin big power youll be ok, but if you are and whenever you turn it up loud it shuts off for a sec, you know what the prob is.
