I DRILLED HOLES in My GAS TANK
Ok, so About 2 years ago I put a car audio system in my Car, I had 2 amps that I placed in the area behind the seats, 1 were the glove compartment is and 1 where the factory sub was. I decided to screw them in place by using self tapping screws to screw into the floor. Anyway when I installed the stero my service engine soon light went, I assumed it was jsut becasue the car didnt light all the amperage the stero was pulling and figured it was fine and would go off when I took my stero out. fast foward two years, of driving with the light on, and with having no problems ever with the car. I took my stero out, I got in my car the next day and my car was full of a gas smell. Apparently some of the screws I screwed in pierced my gas tank, the screws plugged the leak so the smell couldnt get through but when the stero came out the holes were open. I put the screws back in place and it stopped the smell, but my service engine light is still on, I checked the code and it showed code 0455, which is a EVAP GROSS LEAK. Any Ideas how to fix the problem, like replacing the tank or sealing it, or just disabling the code, since it does drive fine. Thanks

good lord.........self tapping screws........your supposed to be sure of whats on the other side before you use those things..
I would assume that a heavy duty eppoxy would seal it up, im guessing they were small holes. do that then reset the computer and see if the light comes back on.
