Default Been A LONG time. but i might be back.

So long time no talk fellas and gals.

Anyways ive been out of the Z33 game for so long i need a refresh for memory.

I know this topic has prolly been covered but if you could be genereous and help an old man out.

So my wife misses her Z and were thinking of getting her another one.

My main question is if you were in the market whats the best yr to buy>?

any benifits in going with any particular year>?
Not a huge fan of the 370z Really think nissan could have done better with that design. Still a Z33 fanboi at heart.

heres to rejoining the club

07 or 08, HR FTW

however, for the 07 there has been the slave cylinder recall(for most, not all)... for the 08s i think no problems so far..

Have i missed the Z's have reliability issues.

any known big common problems to look out for on the earlier models. 03' -05'

I like the idea of the extra HP and great deals on 08's But i also like the extra money to throw towards some mods. Which is most fun part for me.

more horsepower is fun but not the deciding factor i know.
buy it cus it the lastest 350z and all the bugs are work out from previous years.

not any big problems with any z over the years just small improvements here and there

People talk a lot about the '06 have oil consumption problems, but I have not seen any signs of that from mine. The HR has a couple more HP but the DE has more options when it comes to modding. Good luck.

07 and 08's are the same both have the upgraded engine. I have the 07 and have had zero issues.

Ive done my reading.

Thank you all for the insight.

It seems the DE's arent so bad considering it only needs rods and pistons to hold 700hp. Which will be plenty for me. Anymore than that and i think your going over board at least for what i will be using the car for.

My only question is this rev-up stuff that ive heard about. I guess that hit in 06' or higher>? Is that worth the extra thousands i would have to spend to have that>? I doubt it. But maybe im wrong.

Thanks again everyone.

Just have to wait for the right PW to come along now.

with 700 hp in mind....
i pretty sure the newer vq35 engine have a stronger block design then 03'-05'.
see if you can find anything on that but im 100% i read that somewhere.
something about the blocks being made with less piece and more of a uni-body design... dont quote me on that tho.

u might be wasting money on the newer rods they put in cus ur taking them out anyways but u'l be buying alot stronger block design.
good luck

-i feel like im downing everyone with the de. sorry guys im not trying too

As far as oil consumption in the '06 is concerned....I guess you could just add a little bit of oil once in a while. I have an '06 and I presume it burns some oil, based on the oil burning smell that I get when I really push the car. But otherwise I'm really happy with my '06

If I was in your place I would get an '07 or '08. Some people with '06's don't use oil but it's not worth the risk. I know because I have one of the '06 oil pigs.
