Finally Got My Daytona/Frost Touring
Well, picked up my new blue baby today in San Antonio! Nothing wrong with the buying experience, fairly quick and painless, and not much effort to sell me extra doodads I don't want. Plus, they don't let anyone get in the cars except to PDI and clean, and they didn't put a front bracket on. Nice!
I wish I could say the 25 mile drive back to the house was enjoyable, but it was typical San Antonio craziness at rush hour. I was thinking that no one noticed the Z, being truck-crazy Texans and all, but one lady came through right as I was turning into my neighborhood, by almost missing her turn looking at the car.
Impressions:
- car looks AWESOME, as validated by the neighborhood kids who came over as soon as I pulled into the driveway. "DOOD, that car is TIGHT!" "You got NOS in that?"
- Bose sounds okay to my half-deaf pilot ears
- Visibility out the rear is probably like looking through the slit in a gun turret
- Like others have posted, the acceleration feels linear, definitely not like the kick in the pants of the 300TT. Cruising at 70+ is effortless, but the car does bounce around some on rough surfaces.
- Frost leather looks GREAT, but I bet it's going to be fun keeping it clean. My 20 month old put some toe prints in the seat already.
- Interior quality (IMO) is lower than my old Z32, especially the plastic trim and storage covers. Nothing major, and certainly doesn't detract from the overall package.

COEX = Continental Express?
I'm still active duty AF, and my wife really believes I AM half-deaf.
As far as Frost goes...
The dealer said that the person picking up their silver Z today asked if they could trade for my blue. Answer was NO, of course, but I might have considered Lemans/Burnt as a trade. I really love that combination also, but "she who must be obeyed" wanted me in blue. Plus, it's a good USAF color!

Todd,
I'd wondered about the interior colors as well, if the black/frost would clash, but it looks "TIGHT" as my brother-in-law says. Makes a very nice contrast. And it's neat how these colors "change" in different light conditions. The blue glows in sunlight, but this morning (cloudy) it looks like a deep royal blue, and the wheels and door handles really stand out.
I think the black carpet and mats will be easier to look clean than a light color material.

You know, I was thinking the same thing, but after a week, it seems the black carpet shows more than light carpet does. It may be easier to clean though. Oh well.

Glad Nissan was smart and went with the black carpet. And it looks TIGHEEEEET too.
I wanted the daytona/frost something aweful.. but couldn't find any in any dealer pipelines. Also, around here, they hadn't seen any yet.. so I settled for a black/black touring. Hoping I don't kick myself in 6 months!!! Your interior shot is already me cringe a bit.. loved that frost leather when I saw it in person.

I got this color combo too, but does anyone think that the black floor with the Frost interior is a little strange looking? I'm starting to think that....

You know, what's funny is I finally got around to looking at the roll of mats that was in the rear, and noticed that there were front floor mats in frost. I didn't put them in though, hoping that WeatherTech comes out with some black ones soon.
Also, the Bose really does do strange things on its own. Just sitting still, it seemed like both the bass and overall volume would fluctuate. Cranking the volume helped, but it does seem like there's a problem there.
And boy, do they crowd around the car everywhere I go!

Frost floor mats, eh?? I didn't know that. Well i guess that's cool then. At least you can take them out when you need to do a good shampooing on them.
About the Bose. There is a teensy weensy mic under the steering column and you can find it inside the column cover. You will see a deviation on the outer surface of the cover, close too the column adjust lever, and it is hard to see. The mic is beneath the "perferation". Look very closely and you will finally see it. Some guys covered it up with ordinary tape and it improved the Bose fluctuation. Then one guy covered it with some sticky back Velcro and the fluctuation went away totally. Good luck.
