Default Another successful Turbonetics tune by FI.com / CP Racing

It was very worth the 15 hours of driving and the round trip plane ticket to take my car to Charlotte to have the following installed and tuned...

1. AAM fuel system
2. Emanage Ultimate w/ Autosport Harness and pressure sensor
3. RC 440cc injectors
4. Blitz SBC-Id boost controller

My ECU was "unflashed" by Technosquare just so Sharif could work from a known set of maps.

I opted to do all this because my car was running very rich and generating too much boost. I wasn't willing to do the coast-to-coast ECU tuning thing with TS, who wouldn't touch the ECU (rightfully so) unless I could produce an AFR graph that displayed the whole curve (the dynos all seem to bottom out at 10.0:1 and a significant portion of my curve was sub-10).

Anyway...last dyno prior to this was 366.3/318. That was with too much fuel and too much boost (11 PSI to be exact). See The dyno graph for the details.

After having the aforementioned parts installed and tuned, the new numbers are 394.6/385. The AFR is in the low/mid 11's, the boost is right around 9 (working on some creep, but.....) and the car feels GREAT!

Here's the new graphs:

Thanks Sharif!

I'm not sure. Surprisingly, I can't feel that on the road. Maybe Sharif can shed some light on that. If you look at the initial graph I linked to, you'll see something similar, it just happens later in the curve (around 6200 RPM).

If he drove for 15 hrs to get to Forged internals, I have absolutely no excuse not to drive there for 7-8 hrs from NY.

It was actually 15 hours round trip from Northern Virginia. About 7 to 7-1/2 each way. It'd be considerably longer from NY, but still worth your time.

good results, but....

you spent another ~3K to gain less than 30hp? are my figures correct? good jump in tq tho, and the numbers are at less boost, but still.

It was actually more than 3K (by quite a bit), but I didn't do it just to gain the 30 HP. My car was running so rich before that it would hesitate under full load and the back of the car was just getting covered with fuel residue. It had gone into limp mode once also (I believe due to a MAF overvoltage). So I really did it to make the car run like it was supposed to. The extra 30 WHP was just a side benefit. Also, I was getting almost 11 PSI of boost (which is why I was still generating decent power while being so pig-rich), so with a proper A/F, I needed to lower the boost, thus the boost controller.

Yes, no excuse. I did 16 hours driving one week and 2.5 hour flight and 8 hour drive another week. The things we'll do for these cars!

I have the exact same setup as you at home, except Im using EO-1 for boost.

Kelly, congrats on the numbers. You have worked hard on that car and it is definitely one amazing beast. I am glad they were able to get the numbers dialed in for you. Definitely going to Shariff when it comes for me to go FI. Again congrats Kelly, and that is one hell of a car you have there my friend.

Hey Kelly....glad you are pleased with the results. The cars pulls incredibly strong.

Just just some background. Kelly was having all kinds of problems with how his car was running...so it was not just a matter of spending $3K to get 40whp. The car is tuned properly, and feel strong...and now pulls all the way cleanly to redline. He also now has a great plaftorm for further tuning, or doing more mods. State of the art Blitz SBC-ID boost controller, and the eManage Ultimate.

The dip at 5100 is a frustrating thing we see on some people's boost cars. Even my personal car displays this phenom. It is something you definately can't feel on the street, but its also something that I can't tune out of the mix...believe me we tried. It is the point where the stock MAF maxes out, but the EU clamps the voltage, so at that particular point, the ECU is only seeing 4.5V of airflow...so that still doesnt entirely explain it.
