Ferrari French Quarter Classic @ NPR - 11/3/2006
Sorry guys, I know it's last minute but tomorrow, Friday Nov 3rd there will be Ferrari's and lots of them at NoProblem. Here's is the notice I got from one of the SCCA members:
...you may want to send word out that if anyone is fortunate enough to take off Friday afternoon, a quick trip to No Problem Raceway would be an exotic enthusiasts dream.
The Ferrari French Quarter Classic will be coming to the track by police escort from New Orleans arriving around 10:00 in the morning. This includes full blown competition cars, and I'm sure will also include the Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GT from Ferrari of Houston that won GT-2 in the American LeMans Series this year. I've also been told that there will be "several" Formula 1 cars at the track.
At least 100 Ferrari's have pre-registered from all over the United States. Two years ago, 18-wheelers from California, New England, Florida, and Texas (Risi Competizione) attended. They are escorted back to New Orleans at 4:00, so arriving anytime in the early afternoon would allow everyone to see so many exotic cars (not just Ferrari's!) that it's hard to comprehend. A small fee (two years ago it was $10.00) will allow entry), and that goes to charity.
Just don't forget the camera!

Nice pics! My wife called me yesterday morning and said they were passing in front of the Federal Court on Poydras where she works and that she wishes I was there to see it all. I figured something like this was going on with what she was saying. I saw a couple of the Ferraris on my way home back to New Orleans from BR yesterday.

Hey guys,
Sorry I missed this thread! I forgot to post some press info here before the event this year. Dave, it was nice seeing you at the track! I eventually managed to get one of our escort cops to help me get back into my car. We used a police issue break-in kit out of one of the squad cars. Sorry I did not have more time to hang out! That event keeps me very busy for a majority of the year, so when it's actually time to roll I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off! Bring your helmet next year and I would be happy to get you a ride in whatever car you like
Dave(079),
How ya been, man? We gotta get together sometime during December when I'm home! If you had gone down to your wife's office, you would have seen me in that procession as well, reppin' Nissan On your way home from BR I probably just missed you...I ran back to town with a CGT, C6 Z06, and one of the 430 police cars we use to advertise for the event. My friend dustin from teckademics came down and was shooting video with a hi-def camera during that whole thing, so we got some great video of those three cars drag racing from high speed rolls!
here's a couple pictures. I haven't really gotten everything together yet, so I just have these three up.
And of course I have one of me when I took the 430 Polizia and my photographer for some pictures at the start of the weekend

Very nice pics Richard. Of course, with your talent and equipment I was expecting nothing less. Besides your website and the event site, is there any other places we should keep an eye out for more pics from the event?
I'm definitely planning on spending the full day down there next year.
Links for those who aren't aware of what I'm talking about...

Dave,
I think my equipment is better than my own personal talent, but I appreciate the kind words nonetheless The photos will all be on one of those two sites you mentioned. Give me a couple days to get it under control, and everything should be up!
