at $450, I'd have to see their work. I'd have to see their shop. Ya know, it's the little things like masking the car properly, keeping your car clear of other spraying, making sure they keep your windows up and the inside dust free, making an attempt to keep the dust out of your car, although some is inevitable.. Overall, just having a shop thats clean and organized... but mostly CLEAN! You dont need to have background in body work to know if a shop is clean. If they spray or cure your paint in a dirty shop, you cant expect much. If they spray other cars next to yours, you're going to need $300 worth (or many hours) of clay bar work to remove it. Just go in there and look around, common sense will tell you if they are doing conscientious work or not.
Yea, very true! He has a 1 car booth. So there is no other spraying going on. There is no masking cause he's taking off the panels putting them in the booth then putting back on. It's a very clean shop considering what he does, lol. I've seen his work he's real good. Thanks for the tip though. That's something I would have never thought about. Now that I have, he's got all those bases covered. I believe the deal is so sweet cause he's done work for me before and I've known him for awhile.

There are lots of factors, like the lines of the car and where the paint stops.. I've seen a panel blended perfectly within itself, not needing to overlap on other panels.. It was a repair below a horizontal mid-line on the quarter. You're guy might just be so fantastic, he can pull that off.. But, it's common to assume blending is needed. On some difficult colors, like pearl, its expected.
Dont get me wrong, I dont do paint for a living. I wouldnt tell this guy how to do his job. But what I've seen with Nissan's pearl and what Adam is telling you (and you cant tell on his), I'd certainly tactifully ask him if non blending is going to meet your expectations. Its all about expectations right? I mean, maybe thats ok for your grandma's Camry. If its ok that you'll notice in some light, then you probably will be fine regardless.

Repeat there is no way in hell he will match the paint w/o blending! I'm 99.9% sure of it. w/ 3 stage paint, pearls,candies, or even heavy metallics its nearly impossible due to the pearl/metallics,etc. how many ounces of pearl you put into the paint, how many passes do you do,etc.etc. If you look at a new z you can tell the bumpers look different, the gas lid, the splash gaurds etc. due mostly to the above reasons and the fact they arent metal like our body. It's your car so whatever i guess, but i know doing drop panels will be FAIL. (BTW i used to work in bodyshops

Forgot to ask this to you guys.
Hatch rattles. OR at least it sounds like it's the hatch. Drives me ****ing crazy. Only happens over rough spots in road.
