Moving to Bay St. Louis, MS
hey guys... Well I must say when I found out I got orders (I'm in the military) to Bay St. Louis, MS I didn't think there would be such a big family down there. After reading the Southern, MS thread (I think) I realized I was wrong. Well I'll be moving down there from San Diego sometime in the begining of Next year. Just thought I'd drop by here and introduce myself and say hello. Looks like there's alot of you out there so if you see a black 03 Z with Ohio plates sometime next year be sure to wave...
oh... Can any of you tell me what it's like down there.. my internet is kinda limited right now so it's kinda tough looking stuff up. I got some info but just wanted to hear what you guys that actually live there have to say about it. Just what the overall lifestyle is like, how far to the nearest mall, colleges, etc... whatever you can feed me.. Well thanks guys look forward to meeting some of you (next year probably).

well bay st. louis is like 25 minutes away from where most of us stay..but for the most part i loke it down here..i have live my whole life here..as far as colleges..we dont have any universitys down on the coast..we have community colleges
Thanks for the inputs guys, by USM you referring to the University of Southern Mississippi??? not too familiar with colleges... that was just my guess. main reason i ask well 1. I plan on getting my degree, and 2. my wife is coming up on her last year in college at SDSU and will probably have to transfer. i was hoping there was something down there. Well good to hear that there isn't anything bad about it down there. I think it'll be alright. I'm originally from a small town myself in Ohio. my wife on the other hand has lived in San Diego her whole life so I imagine it's going to be a pretty big jump for her.
I'd post up some pics of my Z but my internet where I'm at right now is insanely slow so it's kinda tough to upload them. however if one of you guys wanna pm me ur email I can email em to ya and you can post em for me. I mean this is a Z forum after all lol.. speaking of, how are the roads down there, along with speed limits and cops?

its great down here. if i were to move it would be to another country not another state. but as everyone else not much to do. at least you are that much closer to new orleans.

hehe, yeah I didn't know there was a 'Bay' St. Louis, MS either... and actually to be completely honest when i put in for these orders I was in somewhat of a hurry and saw St. Louis and thought it was St. Louis, MO... boy was I wrong lol... oh well though, it doesn't sound like too bad of a place. Looks like I'll be doing distance education though lol... how **** are the cops down there.. I know in San Diego the average speed on the freeways are 80... and as long as your going with the flow of traffic it doesn't really matter how fast your going. but in Ohio they'll pull you over for going 5 over the speed limit... just curious as to how it is down in MS.
it really depends on where your at. the interstate i'll sometimes cruise at 120 and i've never been caught. but i know a couple cops because they come into where i work and they know my car. so i really cant play around much and get away with it because theyll come see me the next day. but for the most part they are cool

Hell, most people didn't know that Mississippi existed at all until the hurricane.
j/kWhat is your wife's major? USM on the Coast has a few 4-yr degrees, but she may have to do what a lot of 4-yr students do and that is drive to Hattiesburg 2-3 times a week to finish their degree at USM (University of Southern MS). I live up here in Hattiesburg. It's about 1 - 1.5 hr drive from the coast. It's growing rather quickly up here, but it's still boring. There is no import/tuner car scene at all in Hburg. The coast is a bit better for car stuff though.
