Default Bald Ridge Mountain, GA Run?

Anyone up for a run up to Bald Ridge mountain? I did a run a couple weeks ago and it was totally awesome. It takes about an hour and a half to get up there from 400 Exit 11.

Can you make the map larger? I'd love to do this in June or July when I have some time.

I thought this was call Blood Mnt? Plus - all the roads leading to Suches (180 & 60) are great!! You can actully drive the road you are planning - turn off onto 180 at Vogal state park - when you get to the gas station in Suches, turn left onto 60, which will bring you back to Blood Mnt. Then drive it backwards!
180 has about 25 hairpin banked turns in a row! Then goes into switchbacks - I think this road is more fun to drive than the Tail!
The 348 is another great road around there.

Sorry - just love that area - there are many more little side roads that are great too - but those are the main ones.

Actually it's called Brasstown Bald Mtn. 180S leading to the top of the mountain has some sick curves. Is that the part of 180 your talking about? 348 looks like a great road. I may have to try that one this weekend. Also 60 all the way north looks pretty good too.

Thanks Diesel...I ran this route a few years ago with a couple of Z's from Atl area. Met in Buford and had a slamming great time. Can't wait to hit this again.

Not sure if the 180 is called 180S - it is right there at Vogal state park - my favorite road. My best friends favorite road is the 348 - so try that one too! The 60 is good a few miles north of Suches, then turns OK. The 2 is another good one between Elljay and the 411.
Would love to join you sometime in the future, yet I have been away for the past 3 weeks - and need to spend the weekend at home.

Pam - these are the roads I showed you on your map a while back.

If you look at the map you can see Vogal State Park is south of 180S. 180S is the only road that goes to the highest point in GA. This road is all very very sharp turns for about 1/2 mile.

I'm moving to Tampa in 2 weeks so I will definitely want to go another time besides this weekend. I will have the entire week off May 1st to 5th so if you can go during a weekday let me know. The roads during the weekday are completely empty so we can rip up those curves alot better.

I think we talking about 2 different 180. The 180 I am suggesting is to turn West off of the 11 at Vogel Sate Park, going to Suches. This road is about 10 miles or more of curves.
I think the 180S goes to Brasstown Bald Mtn.
The reason why I call the 11 - Blood Mtn Road - is that is what the locals called it and the highest peak next to Neels Gap is Blood Mtn.
The 348 I was suggesting is also called Richard B Russell Scenic Hwy.
Another road worth mentioning is the 2 - 52 to the west of Ellijay over to the 411.
And make sure you drive the 60 from Suches at Cedar Ridge back to the 11.
We probably are talking the same road - just don't want you to miss this road before you leave! This is the single best mountain road I have ever driven. I am working the week of May 1st. But, may have the weekends off around that time?
Pam - yea - we will go - will you have your Turbo installed soon?

Yes we are talking about 2 different 180's. Your right 180S goes to the top of Brasstown Bald Mtn. So what is the better road 348 or 60 to 11?

I like to start on the 348 to the 11, then take 180 at Vogel State Park to Suches (watch your VDC go crazzzzzzzzy!), then turn left onto the 60 at the gas station. Then turn left from the 60 onto the 11. When you come to Vogel state park - turn around and drive it backwards!
Again the 180 I am talking about is my favorite road - hands down. Few know about it except for the road bikers. It is a very narrow road with banked turns and no railing!
Have fun!
