Homesick
I know this should be in the OT section but those guys won't understand. I've been away from Denver since August for work and won't be back for a few more months. (I do travel back and forth here and there) California is great, especially since I'm in the Monterey Bay area. Great towns, great roads to have runs, pebble beach golf course among others, Laguna Seca Raceway is just down the road, HWY 1, etc....
But I miss Denver so much. Hearing you guys meeting up is making me miss home even more. Winter here is no fun. Its cold and raining right now but the trees are still green and no leaves on the ground!! Just doesn't seem right. Worse, theres not alot of pine trees in these areas and people decorate palm trees for X-Mas!! God I miss home, especially when I just got my new home built and haven't got a chance to live in it! Sorry guys, just venting...

I know how you feel. When I lived on the East Coast it was always so amazing that everything stayed so GREEN throughout the winter. That's what happens when you're born and raised in Colorado. And when I covered the JGTC last year it did seem weird to have all the Christmas stuff up with the palm trees!
Sorry to hear you're missing Colorado, but at least you're in a nice place. Enjoy the experience and take your Z on some nice drives!

Yeah, I really like the changing of the season. It gives the holiday season that extra flavor. X-mas shopping in 80 degree weather is just plain wrong. I love fireplace but in california its just a place to store stuff. I have to admit though, the last couple of Z runs have been great and keeping my mind off of home but come night time laying in bed, I'd rather be back home with love ones.
PS, I didn't know so many SportZmagainze editor live in CO. Thats cool.

Yep, having four true seasons really allows you to see the flow of life. On the other hand, being able to drive Highway 1 and look across the ocean is cool too. Get your fill of it and it will live in your soul for the rest of your life- even if you move back to Colorado and never leave again!
Besides Bob, who is the publisher of Sport Z, I'm the only editor who lives in Colorado. I think we have several editors and contributing writers in California. Most of our editing staff reside in New Mexico.

I think I'd like to move out of Colorado, but then every time I leave, I miss it. I figure it might just be because it's familiar, but it is hard to find someplace with so much beauty so easily accessed. There are lots of easy places to go to lose yourself and the weekly grind behind, and so many hobbies to take advantage of here that would be tough to combine elsewhere. I miss the ocean, but the mountains have their own majesty and awe to make me feel small. My wife and I talk all the time about leaving, but this has really become home.
bamyi, it's a shame you won't be able to meet with us tomorrow, but when you come back, we should try to have another get-together, or maybe a track day or drive. I look forward to meeting you sometime.
