Freee-Z-ing weather
David,
It handles much better since the wheels are in their correct places. I haven't had it on the highway but I expect they will behave much better there as well. Obviously they will not equal the summer tire performance levels but they are not near as twitchy as previously. I do however get the TCS activating more in corners than with summer tires.

Craig, I thought I was the only one running the snow tires on the z in Colorado. I’m glad to see I'm not the only one. Maybe we'll see each other trying to make it up hills on Kipling.
I have the Hanook Ice Bears. This is my second year and I'm pretty impressed with them. In the snow and ice, ehh they're okay. I've gotten suck a few times on really steep hills, but I've also been able to easily go when the other rear wheel drive cars were stuck spinning. They're wearing pretty well. A little bit more on the inside fronts, hee hee. When I bought them the only size they have in stock were 245/18s, so I have 245s all around. It's not too bad. What weird is that I don't know if the handling is different from the increased front tire diameter or the snow tire compound. Taking sharp corners is okay, but I don't have the confidence in the tires to take it as hard as the summer tires. The hiway it gets pretty loud, more than before, but tolerable. I like them, I've always like driving in the snow anyways and there's not too much of a loss when it's dry. For some reason I always have the feeling on dry roads and hard turns with the snow tires that the back end will slowly start to come around without warning. I also get have the feeling that they are really soft and an quick starts or movements are not as sharp, but that may be the 245s in the front making that happen. In general, I suck at writing tire reviews, but the Hanook Ice bears are a good compromise for me since I am too poor to afford a winter beater, the snow and ice are not too much or a problem, and with the 80 degree weekends after a Colorado snow storm, the ride is acceptable with only a slight decrease in handling.
