We also missed Resolute and we're hoping he and Beck did well with the arrival of their first born!

Love comes at a price...
Here's my story of how much I enjoyed LaJunta. Last week I worked out hard and found I had some soreness/tightness in my legs. Nothing to worry about, right? After driving down Saturday, we walked the track and I went to bed back at the hotel. At 3 AM, I found myself awake with some pretty good pain in the back of my right heel. Must be a pinched nerve or something, I thought. When I got up for our Sunday event, I found the pain was still there and walked with a limp all day.
As we've reported, it was a great day with lots of fun and I certainly enjoyed myself. Initially my heel-and-toe technique SUCKED as I had problems pivoting/extending my right foot. Missed two shifts (one upshift, one down) and was fortunate to be well within the rev range, so there was no overrev. I felt a bit out of kilter, but adjusted throughout the rest of the day (my foot even loosened up towards the afternoon). After the drive to Pueblo (and another great Mex dinner) and home, my foot/heel was really hurting. After I got my shoe off, it was clear my right heel was pretty swollen.
The pain and swelling haven't let up much since then and I scheduled an appointment to have it looked at today. Turns out I have a damaged achilles tendon- just this side of being ruptured. When I told the ortho surgeon about what happened, he said the tendon itself was swollen and tearing away from the bone where it hooks onto the heel. Fortunately, that means I won't have to have the surgical repair IF I can stay off it for the next 4-6 weeks.
None of this is good news. But can you imagine what kind of GOOD TIMES I was having if the pain didn't totally affect or trash my day in LaJunta? The rush of endorphins through your body during a track day may be one of the BEST highs you can legally obtain! Maybe I should try bottling the stuff... LOL!

I'm really happy you guys had a good time. I knew everyone would, LaJunta is good like that, especially for everyone who had their first HPDE there. Sorry to hear about your ticket Robert, but if you drove down there like you did to MAC, I'm not surprised Hopefully I can catch up with you guys at another one in the future.
David, get well and stay off that heel! The hopes and dreams of Z owners everywhere rest on your ability to kick but in your race car this season!

Sorry you miss out but how is Becky doing? Time yet for a Powerwheel Z or what?

LOL!!
It wasn't THAT close, and I was only keeping up with you! LOL. Becckie is hanging in there, contractions every day but no baby yet. Could go on for days or she could start pushing any second now. We're both pretty tired and stressed I think, but excited at the same time. I'll tell her you said "hi", and thanks for asking. And there's no time to be driving a Powerwheel Z when there's pit crew duties to learn!

Seriously, that's how good a car the Z is. It covered for an injured driver...
I'm already bored with this rehab stuff and it's only been a few days. Hope I can resume work on the GT3 car soon to live up to Resolute's expectations.

It looks like LaJunta 'did it again' for everyone who went. I just returned from Minnesota where we buried my uncle. Hopefully I'll be able to attend the next event.
David: Get well soon..... Old Man!!!

Sounds like everyone at La Junta had a great time. Sorry that I missed it, maybe next time. I remember that one time we were there, Will and I were the noobs, Gary was the Pro Teacher, Matt was showing us up in his turbo'd Sentra, and Don that the Brickyard is the fastest color option. Any pics from this event that anyone would want to post?
Will and Beckie: Hope everything goes smooth with the baby stuff. Congrats again.
Dave: Sorry to hear about the ankle, I thought that Joe once said that Mutant Muscles don't use tendons. Hope you have a quick recovery.
Don: Sorry about your uncle, condolences to you and your family.
Take care,
David

Don- sorry to hear of your loss. It's always difficult to visit family during times like this. Next time, man!
