Default Private 350Z/G35 track day at Arroyo Seco (Deming NM)

I am trying to get a private track day set up at Arroyo Seco for 350Z/G35's. The date is still up in the air but probably looking at late 06/early 07. We would probably run it both directions in the morning and then do a time attack and drift session in the afternoon. The more cars that attend the cheaper it is. If 15 cars show up that would be about $85 each. You could get literally 8 hours of track time if you were so inclined. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Arroyo Seco is a small (1.3 mile?) road racing facility located in SW New Mexico. I've enjoyed racing there twice and recommend it as track with LOTS of runoff area and a good mix of slow-to-medium speed turns. Both 350Z and G35s drivers should have a good, safe track to practice on. It's too many miles from Colorado to consider driving my Z down for, but have fun and be sure to drive a few miles over to the Adobe Deli for dinner afterwards. Great steaks and cool drinks, yum!

Thanks for the input, been there 3 times myself and always had a blast. I'll have to check out that Adobe Deli next time I am out there. I know it's a long haul from CO, but thought maybe some NM people could make it out. So far we have a decent amount of interest:

Cool, anymore from NM? You guys have a local site or anything? I'm not sure if people just aren't seeing this or if there really isn't that much interest. I'll put you down on the "interested" list:

1. 1nate7
2. AZ350Z
3. Zpilot
4. Racer-X
5. sisith
6. tt350GT
7. Grifter
8. Spekterg35
9. PhxBlue
10. PolesG
11. AZG35
12. 350zDCalb

15.

We really need 15 solid comittments to make this happen. I know some of it will depend on the date chosen so the more we can get on the list the better.

The problem here (abq area) is that there are a lot of 350Z's but not that many that would even think of running on a track. I'm sure a couple would think about it if they were pushed enough.

The other problem is, you are limiting it only to 350Z's. There are some racer types here in town but they own older Z's so it's no go for them.

There was a track event last year at Sandia Motorsports and that event was free to any Nissan/Infiniti product. Even being free to run all day didn't bring out Z owners like it should have. Myself and another Z owner from the local club showed up and one guy with a Z32 who now is a member of the club. We had 2 Z owners come down from Denver (one of them helped run the event-David "dkmura" actually responded to your post).

Some day I will decide to buy a 350Z, but for now I'll stick with my 240Z.

I am guessing ~10 hours.

It doesn't look like this will happen. We have to get too many cars to make it cost effective and there just isn't really enough interest.

There is an open track day ($75 flat fee) on September 16th. I will be there along with at least 1 other 350Z. Hope to see some of you guys there!

It's 730 miles from Denver. I've raced there twice with SCCA and had some great times (still hold one class record). I usually plan two days down and two days back. Just follow I-25 south all the way to Hatch, NM (yeah- it's where those HOT chilis come from) and take a state road SW to Deming and I-10. Not an easy trip, but you will see some spectacular stuff. Coming back from the track, there are some great, cheap hot springs in Elephant Butte, NM and THAT is the right way to unwind after a long day at the races!

Sorry to hear about the problems getting your track day together. Perhaps attending an open track day is the best way to go.

Finally, word is that Garcia Infiniti will host another FREE track day at Sandia Motorsports Park in May '07. Maybe that is an event Colorado Z drivers can put on their motorsports calanders for the forseeable future.
