Default Update on Pueblo Motorspors Park

Last Thursday there was a second public workshop to decide the future of the Honor Farm property, south of U.S. 50. The workshop was written up in Saturday's Pueblo Chieftain. Reportedly, about 100 people attended and they split into groups to discuss various was of managing the property. The ideas generated by the groups will be reviewed by the consultant team and by the city planners, who will come up with a handful of alternatives to be presented at the next meeting.

It sounds like a wide range of alternative plans were presented. Some people want to keep the land for hiking, biking and horses and get rid of all motorsports. Some plans consider splitting the area up and moving all the motorsports activity together by PMI. There is a possibility that PMI might be moved somewhere else. Currently, everything is just in the idea stage and anything goes.

City Council will get an update from the consultant on October 2nd and the next public workshop is set for 6 pm, November 6 at the Pueblo Convention Center.

If you're interested in having a say in what happens to PMI, you might consider attending on November 6.

Man it would suck to loose another track! Last I herd we weren't even able to ride dirt bikes in the area near the park!
I have never drove a car on the track, but have gone with Boulder Nissan boys, ridden sport bikes. Great times! I would miss it if it was to close.

At last Friday's PMI track event, I asked one of the track managers if PMI's survival was threatened. She stated nothing would be changing in the immediate future. What was happening with City Council is that they are soliciting LOCAL opinions on what to do with the public land for future planning. She said PMI had plenty of support (and appreciated all the e-mails or letters that were sent from out-of-town) and would continue operations for 2007 and beyond.

So, while there may come a time when PMI will need our immediate support, unless you live in Pueblo I'm not sure attending those meetings will be critical for those of us who live in the Denver metro area.

Well if we are going to lose PMI sometime lets hope Sutton or Claus Wagner gets their tracks up in time so we do not have a no real track state....

P.S. David, do you work off of Colorado Blvd, I think I have seen your car in a lot over there a few times. And what happened to it damage wise? It looks like it is getting a new FR fender at a body shop by the shop I work at.

Yep, I do work off of Colorado blvd. in Glendale. As for waiting for a private owner to build a local track, I wouldn't hold my breath. There's lots of rumors, but little substance at this point. We need to support tracks like PMI and LaJunta by attending HPDEs and other events and not assume they will fold.

As for my Z, I won't go into all the sordid details again, but here's a link to the thread about my loss:

It's not ALL bad. I did manage to substitute a poly Aerosync N-Spec bumper to replace the OEM one that was slightly damaged (but pretty pitted from high speed and all-season work) in the crash. I'm looking forward to seeing it shine later this week!
