At least not to my standards. Once I rebuild that rear caliper and replace my severely worn rotors over the winter, then I am all up for track days next year. This time though, I'll be the spectator, and can time some laps for you guys as well if anyone wants. It will be good to hang with everyone and see some boosted Z's on the track for sure. I hope Juztin shows up for this. And where's Don?

Will- you definitely need to be at PMI! Is there any chance I can help you with the rear caliper seal? How bad are the rotors? Any meat left on those Yokos? PM me and let's work something out.

I forgot to call out Juztin- we need to see that car on the track! Last time we spoke with Don was about a year ago. I think he's trying to keep that shiny paint job perfect...

No i dont have concerns, i just rather beat up my crx then my z. my little crx is pretty fast and nimble, i almost think its faster then my z.

Not exactly what I had in mind Dave. lol Looks like I'll be sitting this one out.

Sorry Amrano, I completely misread your post. Of course, all Infiniti pilots are welcome and encouraged to run with us at PMI. I'd really be pleased if you could make it!

Do a search here for "Helmet Help." Dave and myself discuss helmets there.

I'd suggest you consider a SA-rated helmet like the Impact Racing velocity model (www.impactraceproducts.com). Better yet, you can try them on at local race vendors like Leary Racing and Mortens Motorsports in Denver to make sure you get the right size.

Robert- once we get at least ten established full-day entries, the track will offer half-day rentals ($60), starting at about 12:30. But you'll miss the track orientation that will be part of the HPDE in the morning, so we'll have to work something out. PMI is quite a bit different than LaJunta and I wouldn't want you to jump into the deep end too quickly.

Sounds good. Wife really doesn't want me to go to PMI. I have told her the horror stories of the wall. I most likely will pass but gonna try to keep my opions open.

No offense, but that’s somewhat absurd. Yes, there’s always a chance that you’ll do damage to your car at the track, but let’s be realistic. Your safety and the welfare of your vehicle are at far greater risk driving to and from the track than they are while at the track. And it’s generally accepted that HPDE is a safe, structured event, designed to make you a better driver. The incident you are referring to was an isolated incident (the only one I’m aware of in recent years at PMI). It was the driver’s first event at PMI, it was an open session (not an HPDE) and the road conditions were poor (it had rained only 20 minutes before).

Just consider this the next time you drive Academy Boulevard and you’re boxed inside of 8 cars. 4 of them will be talking on the phone, 2 will be loaded with a bunch of screaming kids, 1 will be borderline DUI, and the last (my favorite) will be putting on her makeup! Given those circumstances, I’d say it’s safer to drive 120 on the track with people like you. People whom I trust are paying attention to what they are doing and having a great time doing it!

Now get your a$$ out there Robert and set your wife straight!

J

I'd LOVE got get in a track day before winter, but unfortunately I'll be in OH visiting with family.

Thanks for setting this up Dave, I really, really wish I could attend. PMI is a lot of fun and I can't imagine all the available track time at one of your HPDE's at a longer track.

I'd highly recommend anyone who's on the fence to go ahead and attend.

Tell her your Z (and everybody else's) will be safe. The accident this past summer was during a rainstorm that the participants elected to go out in. That was a out-and-out track day and not my deal. The best I could do was warn everybody about how slippery the launch pads get in the wet. Not this time.

For November 25th, I'll be a control freak when it comes to safety. One of the reasons to start with the HPDE exercises in the morning, is to allow everybody to focus on a particular aspect of their performance (braking, cornering, etc.) before we move to the track. As the sun warms the track surface (by around 10 AM), traction improves and this is the time to move out onto the circuit.

We've never had a serious accident at ANY of the HPDEs I've organized. I aim to keep it that way!

I have to be honest... The wall scares me too. However after the La Junta day I feel that a "Z" Track day is the way to go. The Z Members seem to be a bit more mature than other marques. I really want to go but its hard to convience; wife, dad, & mom!
