Man, I hate to do this but just found out about some very bad news of an old friend of mine: http://events.myspace.com/index.cfm?...D=132036.28416

So my $$$ will be getting diverted for now. Sorry about that.

Oh man! Already turned the car over for the winter so I cant make it. Did PMI last month though and it was a blast. Raced a bunch of the VW/Audi market and had a ton of fun. For anyone on the fence about this, its a great track for Z
s. Even stock or close to the car will perform real well! I have picks and video of how the track runs and love talking about the place for those that are new the track and wouldnt mind some pointers and tips about turns before the event. I might try and get a ride down there to do ride alongs and take photos for everyone if i can find a ride from downtown denver. Cheers guys!

Default Pmi

I plan on going to PMI, but probably won't participate in the class. I could probably pick you up. What part of Denver? I'm in Broomfield.

Remember that track costs are $100/car for the day. That means two drivers could share a single car and still participate the entire day. If your car has good & strong brakes, this might be something to consider.

It's a good bet most drivers won't be able to make every session- particularly in the afternoon! Two drivers will still get in all the SPEED they can handle.

Sweet. So does this mean my wife can take a lap or two in the car during the afternoon after we're done with the morning HPDE stuff? No biggie, just wondering.

So do we have 10 drivers signed up (I'm definitely in)?

Sorry if this has been answered already - been out of town the past week so I don't know where we are at on all this stuff.

Thanks!

Your wife should definitely take part in the HPDE sessions (we'll have multiple attempts at each exercise, so you can swap back-and-forth) and the track orientation. And when we get to the afternoon sessions, she's welcome to run much more that "a lap or two"! We usually run multiple 20-minute sessions, so you gain a sense of rhythm in lapping the track. It's big (at 2.2 miles) and varied enough that the slow laps we take initially will help both of you know where you are on the layout. As I said before, make sure your brakes are fresh and bedded-in before the day starts (you don't want her reaching for the middle pedal and finding no one is home).

We are still at nine enties so far, but GaryM05's better half is also interested in bringing her Audi down, so we'll be OK. Still, please talk this up with all your friends who own Zs, Gs and any other Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun models, we'd like to get more involved than what we have to date!

Any more weather reports, its getting harder and harder to say no to this and there is so very little time to seal the deal to go. Someone tell me to stop being a panzy on not wanting to put the race gear back on the ride and just go! (My brakes are still hurting from a full day at PMI last month)

The latest weather report is not as promising as a few days ago. But it's still 11 days out, so let's wait and see what develops.

BUT in the event of inclement weather, I have also reserved Saturday, Decmenber 2nd as a backup date.

So myspivey, stop being a panzy for not wanting to put the race gear back on your ride and just get ready to go! Is that clear enough?

BTW- nobody is going to PMI to race. This is NOT an open track day! If your friend is down for participating in the HPDE and track orientation sessions, that's cool. We'll have open track sessions later in the day with limited passing on the straights. Please check the syllabus (post #69 on page 4) again for details on how this day will run.

Sorry if I'm being overly sensitive about this, but racing means door-to-door or timed competition to me. That's NOT what this event is about. In addition, having a HPDE component for the day may allow your personal auto insurance to cover your vehicle. You'll have to check your own policy to be sure (DON'T call your agent to ask, trust me).

Wrong term sorry. That was the plan. The last PMI day i did was the same deal. No HPDE but it was a strict pass on straights only when signaled and every one must let off for the passer(s). I assumed something along the same lines. I look forward for HPDE over open sessions to be honest, anything to help improve my skills on the track rather than just pushing it down and hope im getting, it would be the same for my friend. (If we need more people i can call him up and im sure he would more than likely be down.)
