I'm thinking 10am at the gas station by Woodmen Nissan. Not sure if this time will work for Will, but I'll be there by 10am. For those unfamiliar with the area, take the Woodmen exit, head east on Woodmen. At the first light Campus Drive, turn right and the first buildings you see on your right are Woodmen Nissan and a gas station.

David,

Sorry I haven't been paying much attention to the forum lately. I'm still on for lending a hand at this event. Send me an e-mail or give me a call to let me know how I can help out.

P.S. There are some excellent Mexican restaurants on 4th St (El Pinto, Sadies, and Gardunos). It is a bit of drive from the track but it is worth it.

Glad to have Roy helping me out on this one! Since Sandia Motorsports Park is in his backyard, he's had plenty of laps around that track. He'll be going from student (at our last PMI Nissan Sport Safety class) to serving as one of the instructors this weekend. Looking forward to seeing that Ultra yellow Z on the track!

My availability for this event doesn't look good. David, I still have until tomorrow to register though - right?

As far as Joel (or any of the Colorado Z guys) goes, you can show up on Saturday morning and I'd let you register. I won't be checking my e-mail for registrations after Thursday night, but I'll do everything in my power to accomodate you on registration for this event!

I called Sandia Motorpark (505-352-8888) and the address is as follows:

100 Speedway Blvd.
Alburquerque, NM 807121

A mapquest shows no such location (the Sandia rep. said I would run into this) so here's the direction.

A. Southbound I-25 to I-40
1. Westbound on I-40
2. Exit on #149
3. On first stopsign make a Left
4. On next stopsign, go straight untill you hit the frontage road
5. Make a Right on the frontage road
6. Make a left on Shelly Road

If my directions are wrong, please make the proper corrections. Maybe Roy can help since it's his backyard.

P.S. Just realized we're going hit Las Vegas on the way there!!! WoooHooo!

When you get off the highway, make sure you don't take the on ramp to get back on the highway for west bound. It is a wierd on ramp that it goes back under the hiway.

The track is lower left.

Here's a google map pic.

Will: Can I please use your jack at the track, both before and afterwards? I'm planning on putting on and taking off my track pads there. I was going to use the spare jack, but if I can use the hydraulic jack that would save some time and energy. If not or if your can't bring it, no biggie. Thanks in advance.

It still sounds like it's going to be an awesome time.

David
Of course. I'll also have my torque wrench and sockets and a drill if you'd like. Everyone's welcome to use them. I'll probably swap pads on Sunday before open lapping begins.

Las Vegas, NM and we're NOT stopping! Phu's directions are correct, but I'd like to add at #4 you have to look HARD for the frontage road. After you turn right, it's about 2-3 miles to Shelly Rd. and you need to slow down b/c this is also the road to the county lockup! Lots of cop cars on a 30 MPH road. After #6, you come to another stop sign and have to make a right to get to the track. If you find yourself at the county jail, you've gone too far!

Looks like about 470 miles each way...hate to miss this but a full day driving there and a full day back is a bit much for me!

You're not a poseur with a Z are you?

It's a 6 hour drive in a "generic" car - imagine the time you could make up in a Z! Get out there and turn your pads to dust, grove your rotors and leave some rubber in New Mexico! Beyond all that and some gas - it's FREE!

Are you kidding me? Just take it as a long meet/drive. Come on, it's FREE and on a different track...I'll see you there, right?

This event is perfect for ppl like you. There will be instruction classes and exercise to help get you started. Second, spread your shy wings and you'll end up meeting some great ppl.

Myself and another member will be staying at Motel 6. Come out, learn, and we can party at night!

Bamyi is absolutely right ON! There will be plenty of participants with absolutely ZERO experience on the track. That's why we will have a few novice groups to go over the basics. As for feeling out of place, I expect to see people of all creeds, colors and ages. We have one thing in common: we all want to enjoy some REAL speed in a safe and responsible manner (and learn how to be better drivers while doing it)!

As for the nightlife, just don't get too wild! I can assure you of being tired after spending a day at the track. Finally, this kind of trip is an ADVENTURE- away from the comforts of home and the very essence of what life and owning a Z are all about!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up, I won't be able to make it this weekend. I just spent $2600 on some business equipment I needed to buy and will need to put what little money this weekend would have cost me towards it. I really wish I could go, it's always fun to spend time with you guys on or off the track.

Very sorry you won't be able to make it Aaron. I guess we won't need to make the Woodmen exit stop unless Will or Joel are still planning on meeting us.

Time grows short before the weekend. Let's finalize our plans and get ready for Friday. So far, I'll be meeting at 9:30 am with Bamyi and Bottom for the caravan down. We need to finalize who, how and where to meet any of our Springs Z bros who plan to join us.

David - Don't worry about stopping in the Springs on my account. It's likeley that I won't be able to attend this one, but I'm holding out hope 'til the last moment.

I wish I could determine a way to make a living without knucklehead clients. If I do figure that out, I'll be at ALL future track days!
