Roy: You guys did a great job working with the Infiniti dealership and the people who wandered in through out the day. It was a great track day despite it being focused on the new drivers. If it happens to breed a few track enthusiasts, then it's all the better. Whoops, I posted one of the pictures that had you license plate number on it, I edited it out.
Will: Yeah, I can't believe you didn't notice me taking that picture at dinner. You were definitely too busy stealing my straw for you upper control arm demo. Good demo by the way.
Here are a few more pictures, I really don't have any good ones of the cars on the track:

It's been a busy week and I just read the comments and enjoyed the pics from the weekend. All the suggestions are appreciated, but Roy hit the nail on the head when he acknowledged the weekend had different priorities than our usual Nissan Sport events.
For one thing, broad participation from all Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun in the SW area was a goal. It's why "late-comers" were allowed to run and why I took them around personally on Sunday. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why some showed up with NO HELMETS. Hello? That is one requirement I plan to emphasize in the future. Meanwhile, if you ran both days of the event, there was definitely more continuity to your progress. It was satisfying to see everyone enjoying themselves.
Even the drive down was great as we took Rt. 64 west off I-25 and through the Northern New Mexico mountains. When Bamyi, Bottom and I hit rain on Friday, I could feel the Kryptonite seeping into my R-compound cape. Just easy on the throttle, brake and steering to prevent hydroplanning.
The dinner on Saturday night was excellent and kudos to Casuale17 and Resolute for their choice. Only thing better was the discussion (which continues on here). More kudos to Casuale17 and all the instructors for helping out over the weekend. I certainly couldn't have done it by myself and this is one area that I'd like to improve and better plan for the future.
All-in-all, the track portion of Super Roll I has to be judged a success and I'm happy everyone drove away with their beautiful cars intact. Mine was a bit dusty, but that's another story!

Sounds like it was a fun time with a good group...it makes me that much more disappointed that I couldn't make it down.
Thanks for posting the pics and commentary. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down to that track soon, and if so, I'll be asking for pointers from you guys.
LOL!!! Glad to hear that 'my' Spec Miata is still running strong and was able to join y'all. I don't know if any of you guys had a chance to look at the Miatas more closely, but it's amazing what a different experience it is to drive a race-prepped car that weighs 1200+ lbs less than the Z.

I noticed during SCCA races at Sandia that the Miatas were able to take a much tighter line through T3 and 4. Even with my ITA 200SX (2700#) I wasn't able to follow. I found the more traditional line (which we demonstrated at Super Roll I) helped me balance a heavier FWD car better.
Seems to me that Sandia, with it's short straights and tight infield, is custom made for the Miata!

I agree completely. Finding a fast line through Turns 3 & 4 can be pretty entertaining as you switch between cars. The heavier cars tend to make two distinct turns. While the lighter cars are able to do a decreasing radius double apex turn. I like that part of the track because it really exaggerates the behavior of a car.
gREatest Event Dave!!!! First time on Sandia, had the chance to follow you and see your line, I surely would have paid for the track time and the chance to pick your brain and the time you spent offering me tips & tricks for this event. I was following you soo much in my Pikes Peak White 350 it was as though I had individual lessons!!!!
Also lets not for Garcia Infiniti (Billy) and all the staff who once again donated their time to create more addicts. Great event please take the time to thank Dave M ( great spin on Saturday) Nissan Sport magazine, here is Billy Scribner email address at Garcia Infinity bscribner@garciacars.com Lets not forget all the Colorado drivers who came and show what it takes, just wish i could remember all the names, guess the faces are in my head though

Also hoping the drivers from Colorado will post information on the upcoming track day or days I beleive they were talking a challenging track in either Colorado Springs or Pueblo, I remeber hearing about a uphill climb that was similar to Lagua Seca that had to be taken at 8/10;s ....
There's a NASA sponsored event in Pueblo on 21-22 July that I and some others will be at. Has some elevation changes.
Probably the uphill climb they were talking about, though, is Pike's Peak, not something I would want to race on.
