Default Great article, as usual, David!

Got my latest Nissan Sport today, and read your GT-R article, and loved it. Good job on the article, and also good job on passing multiple other GT-Rs when you were doing your test drive

Keep up the good work!

Dave

Thanks for the kudos, Dave! The event in Portugal was obviously not a race, but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see what the GT-R was capable of. I drove the line, kept things clean and made the most of my time. The performance of this car is truly extraordinary! What wasn't so extraordinary was the way some of the journalists were driving them. While some were capable, I was surprised at the crappy lines and sloppy driving I saw during my sessions. I'd expect graduates of the Nissan Sport HPDE to do better!

And if you liked that article, get ready for the followup in the Fall issue: NISMO 350Z vs. GT-R!

I saw that in the 'upcoming next issue' list. Looks to be interesting, thats for sure.

And yeah, I know automotive journalists don't necessarily know how to drive well. Sometimes, they don't even know how to write well...

Some of the North American jounalists I've met have motorsports backgrounds--some have little or no experience. Like most endeavors, people bring their own strengths and weaknesses to what they do. With Nissan Sport, I drive the cars (particularly at the track) to the limits of my ability and try to convey the experience to readers. Usually, that approach is the most fun and I hope a little of that gets conveyed in print!

BTW- at Reno Fernley Raceway, I drove with Autoweek contributor Denise McCluggage to the track. Denise raced in the 40's and 50's at places like Sebring and LeMans--and I can tell you, this lady can still HAUL IT! So age and gender aren't necessarily limiting factors--spirit and skill are still the trump cards...
