Here's another track event being put on by the Z Car Club of Colorado at Second Creek Raceway (SCR) near DIA. Date is Saturday, September 6th and cost is again $65 for ZCCC members and $75 for non-members.
SCR is a tight, "technical" track with plenty of challenging turns. Our 350Zs actually do pretty well there: the decent torque we have gives us superior pull off the "slow" corners.
I don't think any of our group that went to the Spring event was bored at SCR. You will FEEL the SPEED!
There will be four run groups again: novice, intermediate, advanced and expert. Again, I'm happy to instruct for any 350Zers who want help.
Check the website, ZCCC.org, for more info and get your registrations in soon (I put mine in a few days ago). There's only 50 slots available and the last ZCCC SCR event had lots of other car marques gobbling up the track time!

Thought I'd bump this up. There seem to be a lot of other drives and car-related events going on September 6th, but this will be the last ZCCC track event of the year. Don't let me be the only 350Z out at SCR!

Gary-
Sorry to hear you won't be able to make the entire day. Do try and stop out later on...
Brian-
Good luck at Bandimere IF the new tranny comes in. Are you still driving your car and how bad is the 3rd gear syncro?

If I shift very slowly into 3rd it's cool, but if you forget about shifting slow, you will then feel/hear it. It is getting progressively worse.
Here's the big problem..........John Elway's has never done a tranny on a Z and that has me a little worried. I seemed to know far more about the problem then any of them did. They kept saying repeatedly that it just needs the sychros adjusted. Well they learned in a hurry that wasn't it when they called Nissan cause they were "Stumped". I am just not comfortable with them using my car as a guina pig. I wish I could have some experienced hands do the job.

As I understand it, Nissan is not allowing dealers to work on our trannys. Apparently, they are a Getrag-sourced (well-known German manurfacturer) part and most Z owners with this problem are simply having a new tranny shipped and installed. I assume your car is still under 12K and that Elway North is communicating with Nissan's technical center about a replacement. Feel free to call if you want to discuss this: 303-752-9777.

Just wanted to say that the ZCCC meet at second Creek was a blast! There were only a few 350Zs there, but I think we represented ourselves well. Lots of track time and Porsches to pass...
Two items of note: this was the first track time I'd had since the Eibachs and Nismo bars went on. The combo worked well, but does give the Z more 'knife-edge' handling. I experienced this first-hand as I worked the car into the high-speed kink named 'kamikazi'. Not using any brakes was the first trick and on the lap I spun, I was trying to maintain half-throttle. The rear came around quick and I dipped both clutch and brake as I did a 180 backwards. Luckily, I didn't hit anything, but the point is that the 350Z's usual understeer would have prevented me from trying this in the first place!
The second point is that my 'distance to empty' read out indicated '0' with the last session yet to run. I short shifted during the last 8 lap run and still had plenty of gas to drive the 12-15 miles home. Even with the low fuel light on and the gas gauge bottomed, my car only took 16.1 gallons. So, don't sweat it too much when you're running on empty.

Wish I could have made it out David. I would have had a great time. I did better at Bandimere drag racing this weekend then I have ever done probably in my life. I was able to clear a decent amout of money. Won't go into all the specifics but a great weekend had by me.
So who all made it out to SCR with 350's?

Dennis came out and ran in the intermediate group until his BlueZ ran out of rear brake pad. I offered to let him use my car for one session and he drove well and without incident. Both Gary and Joe came to watch (and ride) and had a good time. We met another 350Z owner, Fred, who is a BMW CCA instructor. His Brickyard Touring coupe was quick, but he was also beginning to encounter brake wear. THIS is where those Brembos really pay off!
Glad you had a good weekend at Bandimere. You actually MADE money!? Do tell!
