Default Track Day at Arroyo Seco Raceway in Jan

Arizona Rides will be renting Arroyo Seco on Saturday 01/29/05 for a private track day. The number of run groups depends on how many participants. There will be a group with passing only on the straights (2 if there are too many for a single group) and a group with passing everywhere (if enough people want to run in such a group). The format is basically up to you.

Pricing is dependant on how many people want to participate. Here is a small breakdown to give you an idea...

Event rentals are $1,200.00 per day + 15.00 per vehicle.

10 cars= $135 per person
15 cars= $95 per person
20 cars= $75 per person

It would be nice to get 15 cars or more to participate.

Thank you and I hope to see you at the track.

I just received an email from the track owner answering some questions.

The only track rule is that everyone on track must wear a helmet.

The gates will open at 7:30 and we can be on track at 8:30. We must be off the property by 8:00pm. (11.5 Hrs of track time if you want it!)

There will be at least three run groups including a street session with no passing except on the straights with permission of lead car. a "race" session with passing everywhere (no bumping), and a drift session which is self explanitory. Each session will be twenty (20) minutes in length and will start on every hour and half hour. This will allow sufficient time for corner workers to alternate. For example, street session will start at 9:00am and go until 9:20am. The race session will start at 9:30 and go until 9:50. The drift session will start at 10:00 and end at 10:20...

We will also have a Time Attack if there is enough interest. It will tentatively take place after the lunch break (12:30-1:30) which you will need to privide. Maybe someone can bring a grill and we can cook burgers and hot dogs.

I would like to start collecting a $20 deposit from all who are planning to attend so I can reserve the date of Sat Jan 29th. If you are going on the Kitt Peak drive this Sunday you can find me there or we can arrange some other way for the out of towners.

I f there are any questions/suggestions please post them here.

Robert

Alright we have 15. Anyone else who registers will drop the price even more. I will put together a list to keep track of who has paid how much and I will bring it on Sunday.

We need the rest of the participants to get their depsits in so we don't lose the date. Please call me at (520) 749-3498 or email me at azrideswebsite@aol.com to arrange something. Thank you.

I need $20 deposits from EVERYONE ASAP to ensure we don't lose the date. If I don't have all deposits by this Sunday (10/31) the track day will be downgraded to a test day meaning only the first 5 people to put down a deposit will be allowed to attend. This will raise the price per person to $150 but it is still a good deal. In this case it will be pretty much an open track all day long but we will still do a time attack and run the track both ways.

Once 9 people have put down a deposit I will upgrade the track day to an event. This requires insurance and raises the total price but each person will pay $149. In this cae we will run an open track with a time attack after lunch and then run the track in the opposite direction.

If at least 15 people put down a deposit we will continue as planned.

I am not trying to be a hard *** but I refuse to shell out $250 of my own oney to reserve the track and then have 5 people show up. Splitting $1300 5 ways will not make anyone happy. I hope you understand.

If you would like to mail a money order please call or email me.
I can be reached at (520) 749-3498 or azrideswebsite@aol.com

I mailed the deposit today. The track is ours on Jan 29th!

Everyone should start making sure they will be prepared for the track day. This is a short list of the basics...

a helmet (i will bring a few extras)
tires with plenty of tread
brakes with plenty of pad/rotor left
extra oil/coolant/fuel/etc.
tools

food/water
shade tarp
old blanket or beach towels
chairs
sunscreen

Here is a tentative schedule for the day...
7:00-gates open
7:45-all drivers will choose a run group (more than one if you want)
8:30-ALL CARS on course for a 20 minute parade session (NO passing any time.) This will give everyone a chance to familiarize themselves with the track. Also a good warmup/shakedown for the cars.
9:00-Run group A 20 minute session
9:30-Run group B 20 minute session
10:00-Drift group 20 minute session
10:30-Run group A 20 minute session
11:00-Run group B 20 minute session
11:30-Drift group 20 minute session
12:00-Lunch break/practice
1:00-Time Attack
3:00-ALL CARS on course for a 20 minute parade session, counter-race (NO passing any time.)
3:30-Run group A 20 minute session
4:00-Run group B 20 minute session
4:30-Drift group 20 minute session
5:00-OPEN TRACK
6:00-Last car off track
8:00-Gates close

Run group A will be a street session which means no passing except with a "point-by" from the passee.

Run group B will be a street session also.

Drift group will be...a drifting session. There will be no passing except with a "point-by" from the passee.

Practice is basically as it sounds. During the lunch break you can go out on track and take a few laps before the Time Attack. This will basically be a warm-up/practice for the Time Attack. No passing except with a "point-by" from the passee.

Time Attack will basically be like a single car qualifying session. Each driver will get 2 timed laps and the fastest time will count. The winner gets bragging rights. We will have a $5 buy-in for those who want to make it more interesting but it will be optional. The winner gets 50%, second place gets 30%, third gets 20%.

This schedule is most likely the one we will follow. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to speak up. Thank you.

Guess I should have bumped this to the top sooner. Good times were had by all, but it would have been nice to see some Z's or other G35's out there with all those STi's and EVO's. Track fee turned out to be $55, not a bad way to spend a day.

Look what you all missed...

It was a blast!!! $55 bucks each for a full day on the track and we got to set our own rules. This track is just as much fun in a car as it is on a bike.

Oh yeah, drifting is FUN!

Losing control and spinning is fun too
