Excellent video Clint!!
Pulled on that STI quite nicely
Any of those morons breaking the passing rules get black flagged?
Wish I could've made it out to this. How'd you like this course compared to big willow or buttonwillow?

Zippy,
The file's being hosted by a friend of mine.
Patrick,
The mayhem passeres didn't get black flag'd like they're suppose to. I suspect some polictics involved. Frankly, I could care less, however the rules were fairly explicit during the drivers meeting and I was simply caught off guard. Once I figured who were the 'special' cars ... all was fine.
Typically, I would run in the red group where open passing is allowed. That day that track ... my lowly G35 was no more than a Pinto in a field of super light, race prep'd challengers and high power machines. I opted to run the Blue group with 'point by' passing only.
Too bad ya didn't make it out! We had a great showing of Zs there ... and Gs as well. The Speed Venture guys are always hassling me about where in the heck are all the Zs??? They'd like to see more.
Overall, it was an excellent track. The infield section is very safe, with the exception of the last hard left kink. You can readily explore the limits of your car there safely with generous amount of paved and grassy run offs. The front straight with the high banked roval at speed is definitely something one'd have to experience. The video did not do it justice.
Buttonwillow is still my all time favorite local track ... for it's excellent combination of techincallity and gut wrenching straights. On top of that, it's very cheap to run (at approx. half the cost of Cali Speedway). Streets of Willow has been tired by myself and the 'Big' track was a bit boring for my driving style. I'd much rather run Laguna Seca in it's place.
Hope to see you at the next one!

Clint....
Yes very good - just watched the video - Four times..
What was your maximum speed?
What do you think you need to do better?
What was the rear view vision like. Did you see those cars coming up?
Like Tony's car is fast - but has no rear view - see other JTCG post.
What is the weight of an unladen swallow? Heh!
What did it feel like to go as fast as you can?
Cheers Amy

Top speed just touched ~140mph when I'm driving solo before dipping into the cones for the tighter portion of the banked turn ... probably hitting more than 1.5 lateral Gs at that point.
What I could do better? I could attack two portions of the track differently after reviewing the tapes. With JGTC in the clash ... we lost quite a bit of normal track times.
Rear vision was excellent out of the 'saloon' edition of the G35
With myself (a whole 150 lbs.) and approx. 1/4 tank of gas ... she weighs 3500 lbs. ... still porky in my oppinion.
The sensation of being able to go flat out and then some ... legally, I might add ... is ... well ... both exhilarating and releasing. HAHA!
It's something that never really gets old and part of the natural high.
