4/2 - Grand-Am Cup 350Z's @ CA Speedway

Big-league US sports car racing makes its only SoCal appearance the weekend of April 2-3 at California Speedway. The Rolex Sports Car Series, featuring the Daytona Prototypes and GT cars are the main event on Sunday (4/3), and the Grand-Am Cup street-stock series will race in support on Saturday afternoon (4/2). It will also be one of the only events for the 350Z in Grand-Am Cup competition, with the Performance Nissan team expected to run three cars.
General Admission typically includes access to the garage and infield grandstands, and parking is usually ample (even in the infield), so it's entirely possible for Z's to park together. Perhaps a mini-meet is appropriate for the Grand-Am Cup race on Saturday. The 200-mile race starts at 2:45 pm.

Just a quick bump for the race this weekend. Come on out and support the racing 350Z's - there are three entered:

Looks like no one else is doing a write up so here's a blurb from my Grand Am cup experience. Performance Nissan #33 qualified on the pole beating 2 brand new V-8 Mustangs. #84 qualified in 38th position due to a little qualifying round mishap. And the Florida Hamilton Safe guy's #23 Z qualified in 33rd. They just took delivery of the Z Thurday before the race and had to get up to speed quickly since they hadn't worked on a Z before. Pit crew had some real nice guys working for them - found out they volunteer. It was great talking with the #23 crew in the garage and meeting Tomy Drissi driver of the #84.
Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cronin, owner of Performance Nissan & the #33 car, who welcomed me into their hospitality suite - a special thanks to Mr. Twisted.
#33 lead the first 30 some laps, pitted, worked back up to 3rd and then dropped the gear box right in front of me. It was a sad thing and ended the race for our #33 Z. Finished 38th place.
#23 Got stuck in the garage with mechanical issues and didn't get on the track until lap 47 and finished the race in 42nd place.
Leaving #84 as our only hope for Z top ten finish. After working its way up to 14th place Tomy took a spin with 6 laps to go kicking #84 back to a 21st place finish.
Sorry pics not ready yet. I'll try to upload a few on the weekend.
