Lightbulb 10/27: Drag racing at Irwindale tonight

For those of you that aren't staying home to watch Smallville, I'm heading out to Irwindale for a few runs.

If you've never been, PM me before 1p and I'll give you my cell.

Otherwise, if you make it, look for the Silver G. I'm guessing I'll be the only G-Sedan there

Cheers, Ted

I was in line at the track about to go stage and suddenly could no longer shift at all.
I had the car towed to perf nissan and here's where it stands: A flywheel bolt broke in half and is still stuck in the crankshaft and they have a specialist come out tomorrow to remove the bolt and fix the thread pattern.
The pressure plate and the flywheel are completely ruined they stated it's completely worn out, now this clutch is only about 4 months old and is supposed to handle the power I'm putting down...it'll cost me tons of money that I really can't afford to right now...not happy at all

Tom - ah man, sorry to here your woes... that all really sucks. Keep us posted.

Mr.Chubby.. ya, just about every thursday at Irwindale, and Wed/Fri at LACR. I always double check their websites just in case... as well as the weather - no go if its raining.

Yesterday's results... Started with 9.4's (passenger and hot off the freeway).

Cooled down and dropped to 9.3's. By dark and lightening up both gas and my passenger, I was running consistent 9.2's with the fastest of the night being a 9.138 (no nitrous tonight) Had two runs where they could not find my slip.

60' sucked with 2.2 / 2.4's. Well, that's what I get for driving a 5AT with 19's and not even checking my air pressure. Track got oiled down about 5 times by various old schooler muscles.

I went yesterday for fun and to pass out Toys for Tots Flyers. And besides, anytime on the track is time well spent. No Z's there. One G coupe, Walter, showed up towards the end. Great guy, ran him twice even though he is stock. Good sense of humor too, as I put some distance on him. Was working with him on his launches, he'll def get better, but he also needs to get a few mods under the hood

I usually listen to the announcer on 104.7, even though he can be annoying at times, especially with imports on the line. Comments from the tower on our G to G races...

First Race:
"Hey its a couple of those.. .well whatever they are, at least I think they are. {launch} Hey that silver one is pretty fast... who woulda thunk it?"

Second race:
"Theyyyy're baaacck. My money's on the sedan. Yup, payup"

Much better than the regular "cartooney / whining engine noise" he makes when the hondas run down the line.

Got the car back today. JWT came through and gave me a deal. Performance Nissan even though they reused my old fly wheel bolts did not give me a break which sucks but they didn't rape me either and got the repair done in a timely manner.
I'm just glad I got my baby back and the new clutch/flywheel feels smoother, less chatter and less noise.
