theres tons of threads on this, just do a search.

important things for sponsorships include:

timing (sometimes its just right place at the right time, also the companies fiscal year matters)
proposal (how you present yourself to the company is extremely important)
your vehicle ( alot of people already have exceptional cars)
visibility( how much visibility will your car provide to the company, are you in a lot of shows? do you win in alot of shows? do you race or drift?[show cars are becoming less and less the the dominant form of sponsored cars]and of course, magazine coverage?)

theres so much more, do that search

As soon as you get "free" stuff out of your head and start thinking about what you can do to help "ACME" company sell their product, you will have taken the first step to getting sponsors.

Another helpful idea, is to have an idea. Company's are only gonna give out so many free wheels or kits... but what about new products. Help them bring something to market with an idea, GB or R&D (providing your car or testing new prod)

Good luck.
