Officials Target Illegal Street Racers RIVERSIDE
Officials Target Illegal Street RacersRIVERSIDE, April 24, 2006 - Authorities cited more than 50 motorists and impounded 11 vehicles at a store parking lot in Riverside where street racers are known to gather.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The four-hour crackdown began about 10 last night at a Target store at 3520 Tyler St., said Sgt. Skip Showalter of the Riverside Police Department.
About 150 cars were in the lot when Riverside police officers arrived, baked up by officers from the Ontario, Irwindale and San Diego police departments, Showalter said.
The officers contained the area, then inspected more than 80 vehicles, Showalter said.
More than 50 of the vehicles were found to have "illegal emissions," prompting officials to issue citations, Showalter said, and 11 vehicles were impounded for having identification numbers that had been tampered with or removed.
Officers cautioned those present about the dangers of illegal street racing and referred them to Southland venues where they can race legally, Showalter said

they would never crack down on a z meet. WE all have the same car so it was a nice organized meet most likely with permission from parking lot owners or whatever. Pluus we have a bunch of older people, this scene where the peeps got busted was most likely a bunch of ricer honda 16-20 yr old owners with stolen honda parts.

thats true. as far as the Fusion meets go, they give us the okay for gathering in the lot. and if you notice when cops do roll through, they just keep to them selves, we sometimes even give them a "hows it going" and get a decent reply back from them. its usually the younger kids all "riced" out that have no clue on what we are actually gathering for. its a cause not a set-up for racing later in the evening.
so thats why there were no cops last night in sd at the runs
