Default Sterling Autobody Sucks

My car is currently in Sterling Autobody getting repaired after i was hit by a reckless driver 4 weeks ago. For 4 weeks, I was expecting the car to come out last friday since that was the date they set for completion. They called Thursday afternoon at 5 PM to tell me that the car would not come out on Friday. I was pissed, but not that pissed. They told me the car would be done on Tuesday FOR SURE (even the manager gave his word on it). They called again, today, at 5 PM to tell me the car would not be ready on Tuesday, but this time, they made sure the manager had gone home early. Pretty damn pissed. Who knows what will happen next.

Allstate insurance gave their word that Sterling was the best and most professional shop that they could refer to me. Professional? If they can't keep their deadlines, thats not being professional.

4 weeks is a long time. what happened? i learned from all my past cars that i've taken in for paint is that dont listen to their due date. i'd rather have them do it right and take their time but most of the time they're always backed up. i had to wait 3 months one time just because he was lagging so bad. i didnt care tho but it always happens. im sorry that you're going through it

Typically multiply whatever a body shop says by 4.

2 weeks = 8 weeks hahaha

that is why i chose sterling, because allstate said that it is owned by them and it is such a great body shop that was the most "reputable."

Well one nice thing about Sterling is you get a lifetime guarantee on their work...so if you are unhappy with it they will take care of it. As mentioned earlier in this post several times...body shops never ever finish on time. And you want them to get the car right. I know how frustrating it can be as you wait for the car to be repaired...but trust me, you want it back in perfect condition!

IMO that is complete crap. <Given that your car had minor scraping damage done, where bumpers were merely replaced and painted... not big dents and deep scratches and stuff like that>

If a body shop is on top of their business and arent cheap, and arent lazy, they should have a car outa the shop that was merely repainted, and slight repairs done in 2 weeks imo. But these guys are right and for a justified reason. body shops do run on a tentative schedule, ull never know if theyre gonna come across something they didnt see and factor in and have to extend the time to gett the car adequately repaired.

i mighta been a lil harsh up there, thats just me tho. And if you want good body shops, you should just ask us, we can tell you good places to go!

That only happens at a shop where they can not properly estimate their labor hours. For better body shops, I would expect them to be able to at least give a reasonable time estimate from their past experiences and their current situation. Reasonable meaning give or take a couple of days - not a couple of weeks.
