Do the units come with all the HID parts as well?? If they do, can you get without? If not, I've been wondering why they are soo expensive.

You cannot directly fit any OEM HID headlight to a Base, hard wiring will be required. As far as any other Z equipped with HID from the factory, the kouki headlights will be a direct fit and connection with no modifications needed, I have already done this on my Z.

No, this is for the complete ASEEMBLY, not just the housing.

Inquiring minds want to know!! Can't we just use our stock HID with the 06 housings? They have to be available separately...and for much cheaper!

The housing alone will not work, you will have to purchase the whole assembly and the reason being is that the zenki model ballast and HID bulbs do not work with the kouki housing. If you only purchase the kouki housing, the bulbs and the rest of the hardware thats left on your zenki will not work. Ive researched this and all the part numbers are different.

Ballats are universal, they 03-05 ballasts would work with the 06 lights. Also the 03-05 d2r bulbs WILL work on the 06 lights you just have to file a slot in the base for fitment and scratch off the covering on the bulbs it self (it is there to stop glare in reflector based headlights but your going to full projection.)

I have been wanting the 06 lights with out ballasts and bulbs for some time but no luck. =( I would like to open them up and swap in a clear lense also for the more aggressive flicker and color at the cut off.

EDIT: if you dont want to scratch off the small patches on the d2r bulbs you can just leave them but you will be putting out around 2900 lumens (sp) instead of 3200.

Sorry, not the ballast but the actual HID control unit. You may be able to make it work but what I am trying to explain is that it is not a direct fit. Id rather pay a little more and have everything fit properly without having to alter or modify the parts to make it work.

The difference in price retail wise is only $13.70 per headlight.
