Autos can have their advantages especially drag racing. At the same time, a misshift with a FI car and ur motor may go BOOM!

But I don't drag race. Heel-n-Toe ftw.

off topic, but relating to post #2.. how come if u miss shift on an FI car, you can blow ur engine.. but if u miss shift on a factory turbocharged car (ex: 3000gt vr4, jetta, etc) ull be fine?

OEM turbo motors are designed with greater tolerances for higher cylinder pressures (oftentimes iron blocks with FI rods, pistons, retainers, bearings, etc) and run at much lower boost and compression...overengineered for worst case scenarios. But I don't think there are any guarantees...you misshift and hang out at 9k rpm for an extended period of time when factory redline is 6500 rpm on a stock turbo car and something's gonna give (even with stock N/A motors).

Frequently, someone who is going for aftermarket turbo is also hoping to maximize the performance gains meaning that they're going beyond the engineering intentions of that motor. I think that's why the high hp FI Z owners are spending a considerable amount of money to build the blocks to handle the boost and this isn't even for misshift protection.

It's a new policy that started on May 17, 2005, you may not have heard of it.

Okay...really rice to put stickers on your car just for the sake of putting stickers on. You've got to at least have what's there, and even then, I'm not a fan.

If you miss shift into the wrong gear it's bad...and bad with both NA or FI. Mis shifting and not getting into a gear, there's no real danger.
