I have a few stupid questions about test-pipes.
1) Do you have to take them off (and put the cats on) when you get the vehicle smogged?
2) Is the sound difference enough to get you pulled over? Also, will it make the car sound like a pIMpEd OoUT civic? (I have a Stillen "True Dual" system which has a pretty subtle exhaust note that I would like to keep subtle and not "attack of 10,000,000 wasps during mating season" or how my exhaust sounded in highschool when I removed everything aft of the headers on my '87 Celica).
3) Has anyone had any experience with being pulled over in LA and having them check your engine? I want to know how much is enough to get them suspicious. Will they look for test-pipes specifically, and would they generally be able to tell that it isn't part of the stock exhaust system?
Also general experience from anyone that runs TPs on the street in LA.

Hypothetically I rock Helix test pipes(non resonated) with Nismo Exhaust. Yes it's load but never got pulled over for it. Switched to a Greddy Exhaust and was a bit more sedate. Keep in mind that what is loud for you may not be for me.

Yes you can tell if you have test pipes. You can hide it by fabricating a bracket to connect the OEM heat sheilds to the test pipes. Ticket for no cats is in teh neighborhood of $2000-$3000 plus, smog ref inspection and possible tag as a gross poluter.

Best suggestion is to meet with a member that have test pipes. I'm in northridge if you a want to check it out.
I'm selling mine and it sounds great
