Default So...Car was totaled today sitting in traffic

So the day started off quite nicely. A forum member and I were meeting up at the Santa Anita mall so I could purchase a body kit from him. As i passed the 605 freeway on the 210 west bound, traffic began to creep up. Not too much longer, traffic had come to a dead stop, and I rolled up behind a toyota tacoma. Checking my rearview mirror, i see a what appears to be a last generation Green Toyota Tundra barreling down the lane. Before i knew it, he crashed into me going about 50-55 mph. Upon impact, my car was thrown so far forward that i managed to lift up the Tacoma in front of me, crack my windshield, crumple both my front fenders, destroy my front lip and bumper, blow up both my headlights...well you get the point. The insane impact managed to transfer enough energy for the tacoma to run into a van in front of it.

Before I could think straight, (being hit with airbags is no joke), I stepped out of my car, and the driver of the Green Toyota Tundra steps out with one foot, tells me he's going to pull his car over on the side, and takes off. Before i could even react, it was already too late. He got away...just like that.

Now...my car is, in my opinion totaled. My front end is completly gone, my rear end is dented in so far that the trunk won't release, both fenders are gone, and well...whatever is left of my nismo exhaust.

I managed to walk out of the accident with a cut on my head and arms, and an extremely sore lower back.

However, when all is said and done, i feel like i've lost a part of me in this accident. Not to mention all of the money i had saved up for parts, that won't be covered by insurance, i'm pretty disoriented right now.

On the bright side, if my car happens to be totaled, i'll be looking for a 2008 Z. I'm not sure which color. I'm torn between PPW again, Nogaro Red, and Carbon silver. This time around however, i'll be getting the 6MT.

BTW....if ANYBODY on the 210 Westbound today a mile before buena vista, around 12:15 pm, saw a Green Toyota Tundra with a messed up front end, please do give me his license plate number. I want justice. If anybody finds out the right license plate number, i will paypal you some money for your help.

Thanks for hearing me rant about this guys. Drive safe all!

BTW...just a quick question.

I purchased my nismo exhaust after i purchased the car. Is there anyway that i can tell the insurance company that I purchased the exhaust with the car, so they will buy me a new nismo exhaust at the dealership when I pick up the 08? (assuming my car is in fact totalled?)

Yeah, bro first off and main important point, you're able to walk away from this...

Second, I hate bitches who can't take responsibility for their actions (the guy in the tundra...)

Karma's a ***** bro, it'll come back to the guy 10x worst...

If anything, I'd get checked on the back issue... just to be safe.

it does not seem hard to find a green tundra in your city with a messed up front end, it shouldnt' be long til he's caught.

How about witnesses? Someone had to have seen something.
Hope everything works out for you and they catch that ****.

WOW...I am glad you are okay and at the very least have the cognitive ability to think of your new purchase, and type in this forum! I hope that guy gets caught! Wish I could help you with your insurance questions, but thats kind of out of my span of knowledge. Get that back checked up asap!

Hope that guy gets caught and gets cut with a million incisions, and someone pours alcohol all over him!

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm sure there are witnesses that might have seen what happened, but the majority of people just stand idly by when situations like these happen. Most are more focused on the damage of the cars, than what is actually going on. My head is hurting like a **** right now, and my back seems to be ok. Went to the ER today and they said my lower back muscles are strained and bruised from the extreme impact of the collision. I'm trying to upload pictures, but fukcing t-mobile won't seem to let me send them to MyAlbum or whatever. My Z was inspecting the rear differential of the Tacoma while this douchebag fled the scene. These air bags...deploy fast as hell lol. I saw him coming from the rear view mirror, totally oblivious to the fact that traffic had come to a dead stop, and before i knew it, something slapped me in the face, and dust was everywhere.

Glad you're okay and hope you feel better soon. It's a poor situation that you're in, but just let insurance take care of things and try not to be hassled too much with things.

Even aftermarket parts should be covered by insurance. You may need receipts, but depending on your insurance, you should do pretty well as they often cover full MSRP on parts.

Go with Nagaro red on the Z, or if you have something else to drive in the meantime, try and hold out for the future 370Z.

The little b1tch that fled the scene will have karma play devils advocate with him.. ***** ****. I'm glad that the car protected Allen and his passenger (both walked out). I'll be willing to pay pal extra money to help locate this douche. Keep and eye out for this guy.. green tundra with wrecked front end. Still drivable.. obviously.

Oh another comment... I met up with allen after the accident, and at least 3 cars drove by yelling stupid **** like
"You deserved that **** racer!"
"HAHA YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"SLOW DOWN STUPID"
**** like that.. great to assume. Especially since the accident occurred while he was going a whole zero mph.. yes that fast!

Now that I take look at it, I don't know if it would be considered a total loss or not. Anybody care to share their thoughts?

Yikes. I'm glad you're alive. If you are into chiropractors, I'd get to one immediately. Since you got rear-ended, there's a real good chance that you're gotten some vertabrae knocked out of place. I got rear-ended in a parking lot years ago and within about two days, I was extremely stiff.
I can't believe the guy bolted. I hope a witness comes forward.

wow thats a rough looking impact! However with the money you probably still owed on your Z if you didn't have gap insurance even with full coverage and they total your Z you may still be out of pocket some for what you still owe on the totalled Z and be in the hole and trying to get a 2008 may be a distant thing... I see lots of people attempting to get newer models of cars when theres are totalled and they always seem to come up short. Good luck with all that tho. I work for a car insurance company and see this all the time. Usually the back car gets the worst of it and cant even drive away so that's surprising the car that hit you could even drive off!

Very true/Good point, if u have statefarm they take care of u though. When I totaled my evo in Dec I was 3-4 grand up side down but statefarm just took care of the gap for me after I declined their first 2 offer to buy out the vehicle.
